Can anyone explain me how the 15tuples were applied?

Basically, he’s playing a phrase of 6 notes (RLRRLK; a blushda variation) 10 times in the space of 8 quarter-note beats. I believe he may have intended to play this phrase of 6 as 32nd-notes (i.e. the phrase repeats at the dotted-8th-note rate) but didn’t manage to play them fast enough. However, considering how nicely this resolves (and because Gary Novak is, quite frankly, incredible) he probably did mean to play what is effectively a 10 over 8 polyrhythm!

I thought forever this was just straight 7/4 but landing on the next 1 never felt right. then I saw a transcription in 11/4 and THEN I cried as WTH.

The Sixteen Men Of Tain is an absolute masterpiece, and one of the crucial aspects of that album is Gary Novak and his incredible drumming touch. Along with Vinnie Coluita, Gary was one of the few drummers that was “breathing” the music in the same way that Allan was. I think that Secrets and 16 Men might be Holdsworth’s best albums, and I think that it’s because they are the two albums where the drummers fully complimented Allan’s style. They floated in that ethereal landscape that Holdsworth so masterfully created, and I only wish that both drummers had longer tenures with him.

Jeez that's so amazing!! 90's Holdsy is SO "out of this world" timeless quality jazz. This could be way up there with Brecker, Jarrett etc, but because of the sounds of those intruments ( elec bass, distored guitar) is it classified and viewed as "fast fusion instrumental guitar stuff for musicians" or so called "jazz-rock", but heck this was one of the most amazing improvised music ever to grace the world. anyway great transcription! Novak is one of my favorite.

I transcribe them out in Sibelius and then animate the score with the video in After Effects. Hope that helps :)

was the Audio compressed. You see Novak playing cymbals and hear nothing............nothing.........nothing...........too flat.......needs more treble.........more highs........less cowbell. But Novak is the man. Thanks

If audio was compressed you'd hear everything at a realtively equal dymamic range, which is definitely not the case since you can definitely tell that he goes form super soft to thunder loud. What you're percieving is probably that the overheads were dialed down a little bit and that's just classic standard drum mixing in almost every genre. Anyways, yes, there probably is some compression since youtube compresses both video and audio for the upload, but it's not huge and not the cause of what you're saying. You should look up what compression is and what it does.
