gary numan is one of the greatest artists in pop history!!! many people forget the great album "tubeway army" from his same named band, ....this album is sooo great and sooo full of beautiful melodies, aaaawesome!!! and then his solo carrier with such great synth songs like "cars" or "are friends electric?" ....absolutely amazing pop songs, for "lost souls" and "stranger things" like me ....,😉❤️❤️❤️!!

This is a great interview. As a musician in a synth band that covers classic synth music (including Numan) there are some elements that either aren't playable or are repetitive and monotonous to play. Also some repetitive parts need to be metronomic otherwise they just don't sound right. An example is the bass line for Blue Monday (which we also cover) or similar tightly sequenced patterns. As David says, when you are a musician performing you want to be busy, you want to play as much as is humanly possible otherwise it isn't an engaging experience. And if it isn't engaging for the performers then it wont be engaging for the audience.

Brooks is a terrible player his limited skills are evident during the ditp solo it's awful. Listen to Denis Haines Wembley version it's mesmerising. The current band are no better than a pub act.
