I was at the first night of the Warriors Tour at the Glasgow Apollo, September 20, 1983. It was my first ever gig at the age of 14. I'd been a fan of his since "Are Friends Electric" was first shown on Top Of The Pops. I drifted away not long after the Warriors Tour but I'm glad to say I came back to the fold and am now a big fan of his music again, old and new. Long live Gary Numan, he's a proper legend.

Still have my Warriors scarf and program I got at the Dominion Theatre. 4 mates, all 15 years old, and the first proper gig for all of us. Good times.

Great footage. I went to Deeside Leisure Centre, both nights at the Dominion Theatre on Tottenham Court Rd and then the final night at the Hemel Hempstead Pavilion, which I think was moved to the end of the tour because the set wouldn't fit. So they redesigned it and moved the Hemel gig to the end. Numan is a God.

Oh my god..I was at this concert. 25th September, 1983. Still have the program. I was visiting relatives in the UK, (from Australia) I didn't realise Numan was touring. Cost about 5 pounds. FInally met Numan during the Australian Tour March, 2009. Mentioned I went to the Warriors Tour...He laughed. First tour since his farewell concerts!!!

@Joriini Actually back in 2004 he did bring back a bit of black clothes, black leather and tightness actually. Gary was born to wear tight black pants(trousers). He's poured into them.

it's a bit late, but I have that broadcast on tape (and also the glasgow show same tour). Don't know how I'd copy them tho! the quality is dreadful of course, but let me know and we'll sort something out.

@Joriini The blond hair on Gary was good the first time around on during his Replicas-early Tubeway Army days so were the clothes.

Joe Hubbard on Bass ..very cool.
@daveh4654 жыл бұрын
Loved the playing on this tour. I know Joe Hubbard was meant to be a right pain in the arse but he was a superb bass player, one the best Numan has had Technically though not artistically. The dynamic changed because of this, the drums came to life more on songs like this and films.

Hubbard was a total wanker , total disdain towards the fans (which was reciprocated ), BUT the tour was IMO the best ever EVERYTHING lights set, music, vibe everything just worked

It's a shame this tour wasn't filmed properly. The sound from the BBC "In Concert" recording is great... although I do think that Numan is maybe "trying to hard" on the vocals! The image seems odd to people and that's fair enough, but you have to put it into perspective. It was the 80s and loads of bands had daft images, but Numan's was based on the Mad Max II film and was supposed to be post apocalyptic, which is also why the set for the tour looked like a section of a ruined city

The visuals don't match the sound. What happened?
@Joriini15 жыл бұрын
Pity if this all that there is. I just read Steve Malins' notes on Warriors CD and the way the tour set was described - wow! IMHO the costume and hair is awful - really, what's that with S/M leather bondage, it looks ridiculous - but it must've been great show with all the post apocalyptic stuff. Wonder if he'll do anything like it again - would fit the new style of music as well :)
