Gary Owen surprises a kid with a 4 year scholarship to college

As a kid who grew up feeling alone, helpless and having to take a deep breath every time I came home because I didn't know what was coming my way when I walked through the front door. I covered my pain with jokes at school but inside I was broken. When I hear about kids being abandoned or abused it brings back all those feelings I had when I was a kid. Here is a kid Jessie Bailey who I couldn't walk away from. With everything he's been through in his life I'm glad I could help him by giving him a 4 year scholarship to Capital University.

I went to Walmart last Christmas and paid for 3 family's things at the registers. It felt so good to give that much to help other people that I was SOBBING under my face mask. Lol!! My issue is not that I disliked the video but that my heart was broken for the other children in the class. How many of those kids were just as deserving and overlooked? How many children came from broken homes and were neglected without the opportunity to show their true potential but were completely overlooked and disregarded? Those same teenagers then had to endure watching another student receive a full scholarship. I'm not playing favorites and I'm sure that young man deserved what he got but it still bothers me that other students had to watch while life changing opportunities were not offered to them and the universe seemed to have overlooked their needs yet again.

I'm from Cleveland and had a terrible life growing up. I got out through the military and not am working to make the best life for my kids that I can. I understand the tears that Gary has.
