I've been reading about Gary P. He is a great humanitarian, and has won lots of awards for his contributions to Country Music, and for his allegiance to the Great State of Texas. One thing for SURE, he's a great song writer, and singer. But, also a very intelligent man, who could have done anything in the WORLD that he wanted. But, to the luck of his fans, he chose to entertain us. His picuture could be found under the word 'nice' in the dictionary. He's on FACEBOOK! Rollin' Strong!

After hearing this I think it could pass for the official Texas state song.

So who's the rest of the band? Is that Gary Delz on the drums? 🥁 BTW... my VERY 1ST ALBUM EVER when I was only 10 years old... wasn't Gary P. Nunn, no, I begged my mom to buy it from the old black man playing the bongos along the river on the San Antonio river since that's where I was born and that's where we were and so she did... and his name was.... BONGO JOE! And I not only wound up being a drummer in school later on in my life but I was the 1st chair drummer in my band in Jr Highschool and I was the only drummer allowed on stage at our schools pep rallies to play our school song called, "GO!" 🥁 😎

Way too many Saturday nights in Del Rio, we used to keep the slips we got from customs when we crossed, I must have had hundreds of them. Wowsa!

It in fact is Johnny Gimble on fiddle. I am reasonably sure that is Johnny singing during the intro of that show too.

That's amazing that he knows about "Bongo Joe" only few locals in San Antonio remember Bongo Joe

I've always loved this song (along with anything else by Gary P. or JJW). There's a lot to love about Texas. Things I HATE about Texas: the weather (it's frackin' HOT!), and we have to hide our guns, because the soccer moms in Dallas might faint if we had open carry.

to jhnstn 1 and sanchojds, Bobby Rambo is a fantastic player and did play with Gary P for quite a while; however, the guitar player in this video is Kenny Grimes.

To blue99blue: what's a hick? {5 years ago}. My son has spent all but one year of his life in Iowa but he knows he is a Texan. Both of us are. Once a Texan, always a Texan. Born here, will be buried here. Talk to a Texan. You have to be from here to understand.
