Everybody could take a page out of this mans book. I am so lucky, fortunate, and blessed that I actually grew up knowing people who were very much the same way as GS. But I was even more blessed to be related to people like that. I'm almost 56 and I wish that the younger people of the world were surrounded by great, strong and solid people because I'm almost positive that the world wouldn't be in the mess it's in right now. Gary, what a great program, many well deserving veterans & service people are acknowledged and helped because of your kindness! On KZbin I saw Orting Veterans Village in Orting, Washington. They built tiny homes for well deserving homeless military veterans. Veterans are on a waiting list to get in there and sadly there are homeless veterans without housing or on housing wait lists throughout the United States. Collectively if everyone makes it a priority then hopefully one day each state will have a Veterans Village with tiny homes for our homeless veterans. There are many millionaires and even billionaires out there, it would be so amazing if people with extra money could donate to build more little houses for veterans. 💕

As a Veteran I am shocked at how many do not understand what Memorial Day is about. Even Lee Greenwood recently said, "Its about the people who served." No it isn't. Its about those who died. Veterans Day is for those of us who did not pay the ultimate sacrifice.

Some survived (yes) and some did not (no). But they all served. A person could serve in and survive one war, but serve and die in the next. Honor him doubly.

An uncle of mine survived WW2, but re-enlisted for the Korean War. He didn't come home from that one. MIA for over 60 years now. Not even a chip of a bone to put in a grave. His name is on a plaque in the NMCOTP, Honolulu. Mom's only sibling.
