Gary is a true national treasure. He has been a great example of America and how every American should be. Truly...an amazing patriot. A short story from me: I just turned 72 and have no kids or any close dear relatives. My father is buried at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetary in Dixon, Ca. His gravestone reads "Proudly Served in Two Wars" (WW2 & Korean). In his honor and all military personal who has served and is serving our country...the Gary Sinise Foundation will be the sole beneficiary of all of my assets when I pass away. They are very deserving. I'm proud of my father and I'm sure he would be proud of me.

I am seventy one year old Australian. I have served in the Royal Australian Navy during the Vietnam punch up and the Royal Australian Air Force after that time. Had a few close calls and still suffer from bouts of the horrors from the HMAS Melbourne / USS Frank E. Evans collision. I do not give praise lightly. People use superlatives like 'fantastic', 'incredible', 'stupendous', 'awesome' and other adjectives to describe the most mundane of events. I do not because they have lost their meaning. But I will say this to you. You are a good man Mr. Sinese, a very good man. It is a pity that I will never meet you.

I wish my husband was alive today to read about this award.. Gary was never a student of my husband, Mr. Robert Carmichael, but Robert certainly was aware of him at Highland Park High School. We never missed a school production he was involved in. We have followed his career and have been in the audience when he came to Orlando to read the Christmas story. We felt that Gary had become a wonderful humanitarian even then.

@@garysinise530 I wished I could tell you, but I had brain surgery after 4 strokes when I was 48. The VA still refuses to give me treatment cause they count my husband's income against me even though income is not written on my contract for medical care. What I can say I remember you from before the strokes as a LT Dan! Somewhere along the line I finally realized it was a character in a show lol. But my memories were so scrambled yet every little memory is all I had. My husband helped & journals help now. You are hope for many vets like me.
