I absolutely love and respect Gary, Scott and the entire Tribal family but hearing this years later in retrospect the technique (while being off the chain) musically sounds to me like some Wolfram Alpha calculation run amuck. I wish they'd gotten a bit more into laying down pockets/grooves.

@@ifgwelf i remember reading somewhere that his prototypes didn’t have any controls, they were added to the production models for marketing purposes

Gary's prototype basses all had a pickup wired straight to the output jack. This resulted in a relatively low output, which was fine for Gary's purposes, but could scare off potential buyers of the production model, thus preamp and volume knob were added
