@Reee Monro "why is most porn free? " Amen, this is the real question to ask...
@aris13pat14 жыл бұрын
@Kyle Rook It is a multi billion industry because it makes multi billions. Google "porn industry profits" and you will find out. All people watch it because...well watch the fucking video and you will know. As for who is funding the research is not relevant at all. The agenta of the research though is very clear. It is to misinform and to cloud people's opinions about a taboo topic. When they say that I feel guilty of porn because Iam a religious person this is bullshit. I feel ashamed because I can't stop and failing my standards, not because of morality or religion. Gary Wilson has a strong point there. I don't believe in God and my morality has not stopped me from watching without annoyance in the past
@banjomcgee63334 жыл бұрын
@Kyle Rook I can't help feeling like your comment did a better job exposing you as a contrarian rather than a person genuinely interested in expanding the discussion. None of the potential answers to your questions seem to pose any tangible opposition to the facts and ideas stated in the video. Literally, you're just asking basic open-ended questions and hoping that your readers do the intellectual work for you to introduce skepticism. Sorry but I cannot think of a scenario in which the answer to "Why do so many people watch porn" would lead me to doubt actual scientific peer-reviewed studies on the potential harms of porn. I have no idea what you were even attempting to get at with such a question but even still, the logic behind it can be used against what you're trying to imply. For example why do so many people smoke cigarettes? Further in referring to the questions you posed, you say "They are rarely sighted in any of the "reports" on porn." So you want us to assume you yourself have studied all of the reports and have the authority to tell us what is and isn't rare to appear in them? It's far more likely you snatched that talking point from an article and have been spreading it around like the gospel since. Which in and of itself, shows what information you have an inherent bias towards. Of course I am just assuming, so I welcome you to prove me wrong at any point. As OP mentioned, the truth always prevails in the end, so watching you try to squirm out of this will be interesting. And if I am indeed wrong, I will at least have learned something in the process. It's a win/win for me. I am going out on a limb to say you strike me as a person who may be impacted in some way by porn but have put up barriers to your own understanding as a form of denial and aversion to accountability. Either that, or you work to some extent in the porn industry yourself. Nevertheless, I believe you have more leg work to do when it comes to making whatever loose case you were trying to build here. You can't look at hard data and numbers, respond with open-ended questions in a non-neutral manner and expect people with common sense to take you seriously. If creating a "truly open and science based discussion" is your intent, here's a start: Do a better job expressing your doubt in a way that isn't slightly below mediocre. Looking forward to the discussion!
@martinirving38244 жыл бұрын
@@banjomcgee6333 , Very nice reply. You exposed the post. My sense is the poster effectively tried to blame users for being addicted and it's not the fault of industry they make billions of dollars. And call into question the veracity of the research and the science (which is exactly what Wilson is doing with bogus "perceived addiction" nonsense). Irritating to me, while advocating scientific thoroughness, the poster misspelled cited ("sighted"). To me, the issue of high-speed porn is very similar to the extreme bias and shortcomings of nutrition science. A lot of parallels. The food industry, particularly processed food, grosses billions, even trillions per year, world--wide, selling food that is nutritionally poor but highly palatable largely due to added sweeteners. Sugar is addictive. It's been scientifically proven (with the same neuroscience as porn addiction). Industry will deny it and blame people for eating too much or not having enough self control. The real issue of course, is socio-economic. Processed is cheap as well as addictive.

What a great video. This reinforces my need to completely stop masturbating to ANYTHING on my phone whether it’s porn or just pictures of women on dating sites, and the need to complete quit and not just do it intermittently. The hard part is that I’m not willingly doing it intermittently, it’s the urges that are caused by my brain trying to open new pathways (which is great!) but causes me to be more sensitive to stimulus or stressors. Amazing video. Amazing that intermittent use can actually cause marginally worse symptoms than consistent use. Just reinforces the need to turn away from this for good.

Wait... if the age of 10-25 is considered as the most important part of human mind development... why can you buy alcohol, cigarettes, view porn already at the age of 18 instead of 25? 18-25 are the years when most of the people actually fall into addictions.
@X33Ultras0und4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to say, but it's to keep you trapped. They glorify 18 - 20 as an amazing thing where you can do what you want as an adult, but really it's just their way of not having responsibility for your corruption as "you made these choices as a grown man/woman" even though from ages 1 - 17 they hide it and say "only 18+ can view this" or "only 18+ can buy this" making these things the first thing you do when 18 - hooking you early. As you becoming successful and happy and fulfilled doesn't help them, so they don't teach or tell you about it. They just tell you about drugs, porn, sex, alcohol, etc. Realize that they only want your labor and don't really care about your health or well being.

Mankind made it that nearly everything that is very cheap or free is toxic for our brains. Somethings like broccoli can't be made expensive, but things that can be made expensive will be made expensive. And porn is either free, or cheap (cheap because the amount you unlock for I think 5 to 20 a month, I don't actually know I never bought it but when I was very close to once upon a time. Being too poor to buy it when I wanted actually saved me.) I've been watching porn for 3 years and will not be making it 4 years. I realized I was addicted when I once could get off to completely censored anime porn all the way to uncovered sneezing, to femdom where the girls piss on/in you THEN to scat porn involving real actors.

Been watching porn for 20+ years and never got into any of that shit. Sorry dude , you can blame addiction all you want if you want to talk about not being able to stop masterbating, but your computer didnt force you to watch cartoons or scat porn. You're taste is sick. Period.
@dankgames64634 жыл бұрын
NightMaster drugs don't force you either but it's still gonna make you crave it. Just like ANYTHING. If porn isn't addictive you wouldn't be 20 years deep in it fucking loser.
@nightmaster63814 жыл бұрын
@@dankgames6463 You dont get it - there is a difference between porn and skat,anime, animals, ect, which the OP mentioned. Porn is addictive yes. But you have to choose what kind you look at. If you choose to look at sick shit you are sick even if you dont do that shit in real life you still support the people who are making it by watching it. I may be 20 years deep, but I've never been interested in that sick shit. Does everyone that smokes weed become heroin addicts too? No, you have to make the choice to go from weed to heroin, do it, then you'll get addicted. You dont start addicted to heroin, you end up addicted from starting it. People dont have to be addicted to porn to be interested in sick shit. Some people just like watching sick shit from the start. To me, that's fucked up on it's own if you're so interested in that shit that you go looking for it. And that's my point - porn addiction is a real thing on it's own separate from interest in sick shit.

@@nightmaster6381 You'd be surprised about the number of people that actually go through the same thing. It's more that your brain went looking for something more shocking, rather than that it actually likes it, this is why many people hide their fetishes as its not that they love it enough to express it (even to people they are close to) but rather something that they are okay with experiencing/seeing. I haven't been watching porn for even 5 years yet. And it's not that I have a craving to see it, but rather it's not a turn off (only in anime as the concept of germs, disease, and "after the video is finished" don't exist) And actually, you couldn't know this without me saying, but as of recently, as I have been significantly reducing the amount of porn I watch, what I see is not so heavy anymore. I guess I was lucky to catch myself before I was too deep in shit. (see what I did there?) as just like today's child porn watchers, it didn't start with it, but became it out of self-made fantasy & curiosity. It doesn't excuse them, but helps understand that it's "regular/okay" porn that potentially makes the mind eventually wander into the bad areas. Maybe you' re just good enough to not fall into this trap. But I still think that you aren't comfortable telling others your fetishes as when you think of it and say it without being in that masterbating mindset, it feels a bit weird and like "Whoa, I really like this?" even on the "normal" ones. Maybe a step towards ending porn addiction of all types, is to at least comment on something public what some of your fetishes are during a time when you aren't horny or masterbating.) they are different as some do it out of boredom.

NightMaster ah yea see I get what you mean. I try not to judge cuz you never know how its possible to happen until it happens to you. Rough child upbringings an porn at a young age does weird things to brains. I never got into weird stuff but I do struggle with exhibitionism an imo that ones JUST as bad as scat/ anime if not WAY WORSE. That's why I bashed you for bashing the other guy. People deserve a welcoming conversation when telling their truths. Not the rape/pedo ass mfs tho. Brains are weird. I think this topic is to complex to use broad generalization anyway. I agree… I don’t believe in the DSM… one of the reasons it makes doing my work with people difficult. I don’t want to give everyone a diagnosis in order for insurance to pay! People need help! Be wary of buzz words such as narcissist… ploys to boost industry. Porn addiction exists. I also see that you can have an addiction to anything (watching the news, sports, coffee, etc) if you are experiencing symptoms and cannot go without.

Can anyone tell me if porn addiction effects are reversible? Does everyone have benefits after months/years they stop or maybe those who have been fapping for too long will be depressed, anxious etc... forever?

The process of quitting like any addiction can be hellish at times. This however is the hardest thing to leave in a mans life. The process to recovery is long and trying. Simply put, you are not gonna take a 20 to 30yr habit of polluting your psychology and fix it after a couple months. It may take months to years and you will never be able to go back to it but in return, you will be given more then you can ever imagine. Our greatest rewards in life are on the other side of fear and struggle. Live long and live well fellas. Take care of your souls.

this man, this man. RIP. Porn or rather internet porn, PMA P0rn M4sterbation 0rgasm is a terrible addiction and you know it, you. its likely you are like everyone else and struggle to stop yourself. It makes you mentally anxious, it's another drug. It's very hard to stop, but once you quit, after a period of struggle.. you become new, you become free and happier and able to muster the courage to go achieve goals. It's miraculous how much quitting porn has changed my mental health. Im not religious btw. im just trying to share my opinion, feel free to disagree but even if there is a small percentage of people that benefit from PMO or internet tube Pron, it doesn't outweigh the negative effects against the majority of society and our children. It is a quiet taboo yet so normalised at the same time, its really messed up the more you think about it, its a huge experiment gone wrong

Gary Wilson basically uses Occam's razor to show that "perceived porn addiction" is actually porn addiction. Hilarious. Interesting that the bogus perceived porn addiction researchers, even if graduate students, get media headlines. Love to know the dynamics behind that.

I filled out some questionnaire/survey thing online one time that was about porn addiction. Everything in the survey, from the questions to the limitation of the possible multiple choice answers, was formulated and worded in a way to push towards a conclusion that would excuse porn. There are so many biased tests out there.

I don't understand why he chose to address criticism in such a defensive tone, responding as if they were attacking him personally. He was clearly convinced his theory was correct, which completely undermines his objectivity. That doesn't mean he was wrong, just that he was openly biased. I personally agree with most of his conclusions, but there is much more research to be done before anyone should be asserting this or that as proven fact.

do you guys think that fantasizing could lead to the same symptoms?
@eminemilly5 жыл бұрын
I heard you should just fantasize about girls you know, reimagine sex you've had and dont make the fantasies extreme keep it realistic. But you should start without fantasizing at all if you have been addicted a long time and need a hard reset. Addiction to maaturbating isn't good either though and do It with lube and softer sensations so it mimics sex and doesn't cause death grip desensitivity. I'm only 2 weeks in and a woman but it basically still applies lol.
@janszkylaszlo5 жыл бұрын
@@eminemilly I doubt that "death grip desensitivity" really exists, at least I rarely used lube for two decades. It protects against chafing though, so it is better to use it.
@eminemilly5 жыл бұрын
@@janszkylaszlo well my boyfriend is circumcised and rubs his til it's raw sometimes, so it could cause skin thickening like anywhere else on your skin. and girls get the same thing where it gets less sensitive, especially if they use a vibe. But it can also be mental or you become accustom to, or favour a certain level or type of stimulation
@janszkylaszlo5 жыл бұрын
@@eminemilly I think the skin thickening and reduced sensitivity has more to do with his circumcised status and I guess because of that he needs lubrication too. If they always use vibe or some sort of extra stimulus they will be accustomed to it and it will be harder to have orgasm without it. I never had such a problem though, maybe I am special. :P
@eminemilly5 жыл бұрын
@@janszkylaszlo I agree circumscribed men are way more likely to be affected by some sort of death grip or skin thickening, and a lot of guys are circumcised. I don't know, I've only heard anecdotally from men and women about the desensitization. I never really use a vibe so I'm not sure personally. The brain is involved a lot here too and seems to be rewired from too much porn, so maybe too much of certain other masturbation techniques too.

When I was a child internet was still on its pioneer years, at least in the latin american country I come from. I was born in 2000. I remember being playing online games with my cousin and my brother and a window popping up. I don‘t remember what was on it, but later that day we commented it to our parents laughing and yelling „haha it was crazy, a girl was eating a giant poop!“, we were surprised, and at the same time laughing about the ridiculous content. Now I know it was probably an Ad of a porn site, figuring oral sex.
