Lyrics:
Uh, yeah
Paranoid and pissed off
Now that I got the money
Fifty acres and a model A
Right in the middle of Trump country
I told you, "There goes a neighborhood"
Now Mister Williams ain't so funny
I see you looking out your window
Can’t wait to call the police on me
Well I know you think I'm up to somethin'
I’m just eating, now we're still hungry
And this is mine now, legit
I ain't leavin' and you can't take it from me
I remember when you used to tell me
"Nigga run, nigga run
Go back where you come from, uh
Nigga run, nigga run
Go back where you come from
We don't want, we don't want your kind
We think you's a dog born"
Fuck you, I’m America’s son
This is where I come from
This land is mine
This land is mine
This land is mine
This land is mine
Up 'til the sun comes up
No, I can’t start grindin'
And I can't let 'em break me
No, I can’t let 'em fire me
You can meet my friend the governor
Only if you wanna try me
Or you can meet my other friend, the judge
Just in case you think I'm lyin'
Well I know you think I'm up to somethin'
I'm just eating, now we're still hungry
And this is mine now, legit
I ain't leavin' and you can't take it from me
I remember when you used to tell me
"Nigga run, nigga run
Go back where you come from, uh
Nigga run, nigga run
Go back where you come from
We don't want, we don't want your kind
We think you's a dog born"
Fuck you, I'm America's son
This is where I come from
This land is mine, yeah
This land is mine
This land is mine, yeah
This land is mine, yeah
[Guitar Solo]
I remember, I remember when they used to tell me
"Nigga run, nigga run
Go back where you come from, uh
Nigga run, nigga run
Go back where you come from
We don't want, we don't want your kind
We think you's a dog born"
Fuck you, I'm America's son
This is where I come from
This land is mine, uh
This land is mine, uh
This land is mine, uh
This land is mine, uh
This land is mine
This land is mine, uh
This land is mine, uh
(This land is mine, yeah)
[Guitar Solo]
(This land is mine, this land is)
(This land is mine, this land is)
(This land is mine, this land is)
(This land is mine, this land is)
(This land is mine, this land is)

He actually has the long gun version, which I didn't know existed. It's amazing how small a .410 shell is. Thing hold a large round and a small shell. I m a 44 years old white man from Turkey, living in Turkey. I was doing research for the best rock songs that Grammy Awarded, and this is the best rock song of 2020. And I found this is amazing, there you can hear a lot of different kind of music styles in the song The guitar sound is amazing, sounds like 68's to me, plus the song message is strong. But, Ladies and gentlemen, I just don't understand something Why only 4.4 million people listened to this it deserves 144 million at least, this is a masterpiece.

I'm brown, born and raised in the US. Growing up, if someone asked me where I'm from, most of the time they weren't satisfied until they heard a location like India. Many don't care to know about my hometown in Illinois. I love this song. Fu, I'm (also) America's son.

I wouldn't dare to speak for OTHERS, as most people are fools, however, I might ask you the same thing because I love to learn about other cultures. I've never had anyone get offended. They usually are happy to talk about it. I wouldn't take offense man. I doubt people are trying to find extra reasons to dislike you. If they don't like you cuz you're "brown" they likely wouldn't talk to you at all. They might talk AT you. Also, most people understand that Indians are here legally and not only not TAKING jobs, but are CREATING jobs. I know a LOT of Indian people and they ALL own businesses or are working for the family business. Every single one. The least lazy people I have ever known. PEACE!!!

So many people are openly racist and will ask any non white person "where are you from?" And when they answer a town in that country, they say "no, like where are you from? What country?" So they say "this one" and they still aren't satisfied and ask "no, like where are your family from?".... sad that in 2021 people don't understand that you can be any race and be a born citizen of that country. Assuming someone is a foreigner based on the colour of their skin is disgusting, and POC don't owe any ancestral background to bigots who want to know.

Its reminiscent of Neil Youngs Southern Man or Ohio. Its a new generation protest song that is both art and activism at the same time and an absolutely relevant answer to the lie that many people in this country are so naive as to believe that racial equality has been acheived already.
@rissayanders
@rissayanders 5 жыл бұрын
@ minorities in this country have to work a million times harder to accomplish those things because of systemic racism. Its not something i can explain to you empirically. Youve either experienced it or you havent. Youve either witnessed it or managed to be sheltered from it. I guarantee if you go sit down with that doctor and ask him what kinds of adversity he had to get past to make it where he is, he could probably give you a lot of examples. Once in awhile a person gets lucky because they are born into money and that shields them from some of it..but not all. Once in awhile someone gets somewhere because they were in the right place at the right time,..but not usually. Its generally through way more dedication and hard work and perseverance through a system that is stacked against them to get there than you could even imagine. Just because we dont directly experience something ourselves doesnt mean it isnt true or isnt happening..youre just unaware of it. And that is the entire premise behind white privilege.

@ So I am assume you are white? I am white and lived in a poor town, the schools were terrible. Not a single kid I grew up with amounted to much. Not crying as I learned a trade and found my way. Five of my friends died before the age of 50. My wife was raised in a very wealthy town with a great school system not only did she earn a law degree but most if not all of her friends attended college and have high paying jobs. I was not dealing with racism which is real, my father was very racist and so are two of my siblings. Where you start in life defiantly effects your life. Its not the only thing but good parents, good schools, not being poor or black helps.

Proud Mississippian!!! As a white southerner I’ve never flown the rebel flag or wore it on my clothes, but I was once ardent supported keeping our old state flag. I am a traditionalist by nature, afraid of change and that was my only argument for keeping the old flag. I have many black friends and live in MS, the state with the highest population of blacks in the country. I began to study my state’s history and The more I fear he’s the more I began to accept the fact that I was completely ignorant of the racial history. I asked my black friends what they thought and they all expressed to me the feeling of discomfort they got when seeing the Confederate emblem on our flag. Mississippi’s demographics have changed drastically since the Great Migration but prior to 1930 Blacks made up as much as 58% of the population. During Reconstruction George Washington Gayles served as the only Black man in the Senate from 1882 to 1886. Nine Black men served in the House in 1888, six in 1890, and two in 1892 and 1894. There would not be another African American elected to the Mississippi state legislature until Robert G. Clark Jr won his historic election in 1968. Even with a black majority in the state MS has never had a Black governor nor have Blacks ever comprised a majority in the state legislature. Fifteen years after Reconstruction ended in Mississippi held a convention to write a new state constitution, only specially elected delegates were invited to the capitol in Jackson. All but one of the delegates were white - Isaiah Montgomery was the lone black representative. According to census data, Mississippi’s total population was 1,289,600, blacks 742,559 (56.2%) whites 544,851 (43.7%) yet whites made up 99% of the delegates at the 1890 convention. One the hottest debates at the convention were literacy tests and poll taxes as requirements for voting. The tests, usually unfair, kept almost all Black voters from the polls. The poll tax also kept large numbers of Black Mississippians, as well as White ones, from voting. Jim Crow laws in Ms were codified by law by a white minority in 1890 and perpetuated until the Civil Rights movement in the 1950’s and 60’s. Former MS Gov. James Kimble Vardaman said of his assessment of the 1890 Constitution’s purpose: “There is no use to equivocate or lie about the matter. Mississippi’s constitutional convention was held for no other purpose than to eliminate the n*gger from politics; not the ignorant-but the n*gger,” said Vardaman, who was known as “The Great White Chief” for his steadfast defense of white supremacy. The old flag was a symbol of white supremacy in 1890 and it was used as a symbol of white supremacy by segregationists like James Eastman and George Wallace in the 60’s to resist the racial integration of schools.

Our fellow Veterans that are Black have served this country USA in EVERY war that the US has ever fought in and every time they returned to American soil they were treated worse than dirt. They were refused service in restaurants and denied entry into libraries and entertainment venues. They were not allowed to purchase or rent decent housing refused the opportunity to be employed in many occupations and business concerns in fact many were lynched (murdered). Up until the late 1960's they were denied their constitutional right to vote. The oppression and maltreatment of the African American citizen in general and the Black soldier and veteran in particular stands out as particularly historically odious. As an American and a White person and a Veteran I would be remiss as a decent human being if I did not take note of these very painful facts. You are the misguided one and I do stand by my original comment. Thanks for responding and have a blessed one.

Gary Clark Jr. is so spot-on in his execution. This is the ultimate, "I will never be a victim. I belong here just as much as you do" without putting anyone down in the process, no matter how wrong they may be. Not once does he attempt to sink to the same level. Vulgarities aside, THAT is class.

Gary is a great musician but he is going about it all wrong. As I said before, he sunk to the same level as his dumbass neighbor instead of trying to bring people together. Of course Howard goaded him into saying stuff Gary will soon regret because Howard is an Elitist POS and deserves a swift kick in the balls in order to set him straight. Face it, Howard wanted his murderous Queen to win, because the entertainment industry are a bunch of hypocritical and scared chicken Sh!ts (RIP Joan Rivers). Will there be a another civil war? I sure hope not but that goes against Jefferson's axiom..and he would be considered a "lefty".

I stand with the Black community for their struggles because they are also the struggles of my own community.

The lyrics are intense in the best worst way possible and the music is perfection. The fact that so many people get defensive about the subject matter just proves it's point over and over and shows its importance and relevance, even if it's horrible that it should be relevant in 2019, or any year for that matter.

Kool- Aid have you ever heard the term “Can’t see the forest for the trees” You’re comment, valid as your opinion is, is the definition of that. I’m not going to pretend that hearing that doesn’t bother me. But it’s a song based on lived experience. An artist has a right to express those experiences however they wish. That’s how THIS can still be art, while some mumble rapper dropping the N word in a song 20 times is completely unnecessary, and done for no artistic reason. But like I said before. We’re all entitled to feel however we want to about it. Doesn’t make anyone right or wrong. Just shows the varying opinions. Have a good evening 👍🏻.

This is the same energy that led to democratization despite monolithic impulses all through the American experiment. We too often ignore an inefficient individual responsibility that is repeatedly practiced by those with advantages; we should apply the same compromised values and principles to our economic structures as we do our political structures. "Power (influence and control) always follows property... The only possible way then of preserving the balance of power on the side of equal liberty and public virtue, is to make the acquisition of land (potential productive capital) easy to every member of society: to make a division of the land into small quantities, So that the multitude may be possessed of landed estates (established productive capital)." - John Adams kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJnYgX6Pf8eqrdE

How about bring Art, music, and finance to school. You know there is a very concrete reason they don't teach finance at ALL and barely Art and Music right? Still going by the Rockefeller designed General Education Board from 1903. His quote says it all... "I want a nation of workers, not thinkers." God forbid we all learn to be something other than a worker bee. Anyway, I gotta get back to digging this ditch. LOL. Actually It's to hide all rhe gold and jewels I earned from the Education I gave myself after College. Jokes aside, the only way one will get a true Education it to study a lot outside of school, assuming we didn't get it from our parents.

Cant wait to add this piece of art to the collection. Every note you play goes down in history. Thank you for blessing our ears. Already know this shit is going to be mad good. From a blues man to another, I appreciate you. And thank you for keeping the history alive. "They call it the blues, but they should've called it life. That's all it is." - E

@Evil In America According to the US Department of Justice statistics, 84 percent of white people killed every year are killed by other whites. In 2011, there were more cases of whites killing whites than there were of blacks killing blacks. Between 1980 to 2008, a majority (53.3 percent) of gang-related murders were committed by white people, with a majority of the homicide victims being white as well.

Evil In America safer? You must live in California or something...because down here in the DEEP south. Nobody would say that lmao. There aren’t gangs down here like that, to the point where black on black crime is huge. Mainly because there isn’t a lot of black people here to begin with.

Evil In America and you act like we don’t know there’s an issue. Of course there’s an issue. But it’s an endless cycle. If these neighborhoods don’t get the funds to have a decent education then these kids believe they have no future. Their ignored but always told to change with anyone to help them do so. It’s some bs that society is like this. People get put into these neighborhoods and now their expected to do better without any resources.

This song is one of the most moving songs in 2020..powerful...im a 62 year old woman which grew up in middle class and was sheltered from all the racism in america..i was taught people were people no matter what color ...i didnt know racism til one day took a bus to town in 1970..when i got on bus an elderly black woman got up to give me her seat...i insisted she sit..i was 12..this poor woman was scared looking around to see what people were going to do or say...i stood...ill be damed i wasnt raised to disrespect any elder...i couldnt understand at that time why a woman in her 80s would move and offer a seat for a child.. i could go on and on..but i agree with this song this land is theirs the same as everyone else.no one should be treated any different because of color of skin
