Hey Gary, I just ordered your Lightsphere-II Flash Diffuser Pro Combo for my Canon 580EX II and I used it for the first time at sunset tonight taking some portraits. I took some with and without and really played around with the different combinations of how you can use them. I have to say, they are the best things I have purchased in a while. They really add a lot to my images, really amazing products you have. Thanks a lot! Keep the videos coming!

I have found I get the most accurate colour rendition when pointing the camera at the MAIN light source i.e. the light that you are exposing for. The great thing about custom WB is that if you are using Lightroom you will not only see an adjustment of the colour temperature, but also an adjustment of the tint. This is why custom WB is better than presets which invariably do NOT alter the tint.

@GoldenBlade99 I figured this out months ago... Just set to any picture style when your taking your reference picture for white balance. Then set to custome white balance using that picture. Repeat when lighting atmosphere changes.

Always remember there is Incident and Reflected Light. Which this cone seems to cover both well....very nice tool. Better than a flat card

Hi, your 7D Tips and Tuts are fantastic. Just new to photography with 7D, I would like to know all the required settings for low light photography for best outcome. Would you be kind enough to share them with me? Thanks in advance. BTW, I am also subscribed to your channel.

Does the camera display a reading telling the user if they have an 18% gray? If so, where?

when i try doing it, i got a pure white image, no gray at all? why is that? do i need to shoot the sample in fully auto? or using the settings for my light set up.
@GoldenBlade9913 жыл бұрын
@brandonlamarmusic Someone please answer this!! Is it all set to auto WB or a K approximation? And does iso/exposure/f-stop matter? Or is all of this solved when the reference picture is shot in raw??

So if you stand where the subject is and there are tungsten or florescent lights behind them but the main light source on the subject is a flash this method won't get the right color balance. Also the color balance in camera uses through the lens or reflected metering which includes the color balance. I have always "when there is more than one light source" gotten the best results when taking the white balance pointing it at the subject from the position I want to shoot from.

If you are using the LightSphere as shown in this video then be ensure that your meter setting is NOT on spot metering when you have strong side lighting. I set my camera to P mode in manual focus (as suggested). The WB mode makes no difference as the camera computes the white balance irrespective of this.

IF YOU'RE SETTING YOUR WHITE BALANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME, WHAT DO YOU SET TTHE WHITE BALANCE TO TO TAKE YOUR REFERENCE PICTURE?????????? (NO ONE EVER EXPLAINS THAT PART)
@Hari-Photo-Videos6 жыл бұрын
it's not a matter in which default white balance preset been set to take reference picture. like AWB, tungsten, indoor or cloud so on except custom preset as a selected one to take reference one. in this scenario, one thing should understand that the dslr decides that the image taken for reference is 100% white under this lighting condition with current white balance setting. so it does not a matter in which white balance preset is set to take a reference image. hope you get clarified.
