A Rams Head cane topper. I was made one of these many years ago by a friend so thought I would try and show how it's done. #GaryHuston #Blacksmithing #Farrier #ASMR #Horseshoeing #Fabrication #Ironwork #Hoofcare #welder #repairs #horse #farriery #engineering

The work on the horns I think was spot on. From hunting experience I can say that no horn is identical to the other on any animal. A splendid job on the entire piece.

Gary I finally got one to come out that is presentable. I missed your comments on the lower jaw and kept missing that lower shape. Made the head look to square. I think I learned as much making the eye punch as I did the head itself. Thanks again for a great learning experience. Bill

Great content and as someone who's just started out blacksmithing in my back yard and is learning everything from scratch at 50 years old these KZbin posts have been invaluable to me and there such a great resource of ideas and information. It helps that I've been around tools and that I've worked with my hands most of my life so given the basics I can normally work things out but these KZbin posts are a great resource and I'm greatful and appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge.👍✌️

Nice job mate. I have used this same general pattern, without the horns, to make mallard duck heads for my hunting friends. I have done the same with making the horse head, making the horns much shorter and turning them into ears. My detail work requires much more practice. I see where the gas torch helps with placing heat in just the right places. Thanks for the tutorial!!!! Trey

Beyond the fact that you have years of experience, a ton of talent and an eye for detail, I want you to know that the quality of your videos is remarkable in an era of shaky, out of focus, redundant filming and loud background noises. You explain the reasons for your choices and describe what you are thinking about, all of which we the viewer need so we understand you intent and the finer details of smithing. Also you take the time to set-up close shots so we can really see what we need to not just some guy wailing on a hunk of iron. And lastly you edit out the repetitive parts so your videos don't get boring to the point where one would stop watching. Thank-you for teaching us so much. Chuck Whisler, Nebraska USA

The reason things look hotter on the camera is because the CCD is more sensitive to Infra-Red light than your eyes are. Some cameras have filters to correct for this, but many don't.

Very cool. I really want to get into smithing as a hobby - Subed! It may already have been answered, but most digital camera sensors are more sensitive to infra-red light, and can see glowing hot things much better than the human eye. I've noticed that it's a common thing on other videos, and I'm not actually sure if there is any way to represent the true colors using a camera.
