I have had the Jailbird S2S for 3 weeks. Putted very poorly the first time out. And then I figured out to aim it with the forward press. Now I’m putting great with it. I used to have a “garden gate” open/close putting stroke, but I have found that with the forward press I am behind the ball more and now have more of a “back and through” stroke. And the white hot insert is perfect. It’s a keeper for me.

Well it might feel strange, which it does, but according to what odyssey’s website that’s what they expect you to do, but putting is more about feel than anything else, just look at all the different ways people grip the club and how many different kinds of putter designs are out there, so bottom line is, if it works for you Don’t Fix It embrace it👍⛳️

I’ve tried a couple of LAB putters, and they were very good, however I simply can’t afford them. I tried (and bought) the No7 style Square to Square at 1/2 the price. Personally I couldn’t differentiate overall performance between the two, in fact I prefer the Odyssey white hot insert face. I might just be lucky but having seen this I tried you “can balance test” and mine definitely came completely back to square every time.

This s2s putter is really nice when i was testing one out and I almost bought one until i found out about the shaft lean so instead i went with the lab since the handle forward presses automatically. I wasn’t trying to learn how to do forward presses I would prob be chipping it on accident forgetting to keep the putter pressed. Also you been killing it with the content!

I’m the same. I’ve put a standard super stroke on my lab as I wanted a thicker grip but I’m messed it up. It’s still Zero Torque, but I don’t like to have to feel a press stroke so much, and I’ve forget myself a few times already on longer strokes. I would like to order a couple press grips and test it on this putter to be fair.

If you don’t press forward you will have 6.3° loft that’s why you’re getting the ball to chip. There’s 3.3° of press so when you press forward, and you can’t see the white insert, there’s only 3° of loft on the putter. I’ve got the #7 style putter.

Odyssey will sell loads of square to square putters, they have familiar heads, inserts and grips which will appeal to a lot of golfers. They have already had models that work best with some forward press and it doesn’t take much to get used to it. They will also be available in most shops so can be tried and fitted easily. Plus the price point is more appealing and it won’t be long before used models will be available at a slightly lower cost. A lot of putter confidence comes from how it looks so another plus.

I want to try the odyssey but I avg sub 28 putts a round for the last 3 years . Why futz with perfect . It’s a similar concept to how my build is but I’m in a very bespoke build . Odyssey 2m cs 400 gram head , x100 8iron shaft and iomic midsize for F0 swingweight and I just fill it up from 12 ft and in. I make more 30 ft putts with a blade but miss a ton from 5. What’s the point of making 2 bombs a round if you miss 5 short ones. I just performed better with a face balanced putter than a heel shafted blade. I can feel the face staying square longer . I hate what it looks like but it’s the results that matter .

I purchased my first LAB DF3 for $569 Cdn off of Golf Vault. This is the stock model with 69 def loft and steel shaft. Absolutely loved the way the DF3 performed and opted to upgrade to a custom DF3 with my lie angle (provided virtually through LAB off a video putting against a door frame), ACCRA shaft and counter balanced grip. With a recent 20% discount from LAB, the purchase price was nowhere near $1100 Cdn. I am putting out of my mind with this custom DF3. One would have to pry this stick out of my cold dead hands !😂

What I struggle with is, a good putter will putt well with any old putter. These LAB or equivalent putters are the current fad, these things come and go. If you are confident with what ever wand you wield, you will hole putts. I have refined my putting stroke using hackmotion, and my arcos stats suggests i am picking up 1.6 shots a round against similar handicap players, i am off of 5.7. Surely refining technique will achieve more than spending £700 on a putter regardless of the technology.

@@garymartingolf I'm taking about facts. Some background for those of you unfamiliar with L.A.B. The brainchild of Bill Presse IV, L.A.B. was born from a frustration that he was constantly battling the torque of his putter. He invented the “Revealer,” a device that simply and easily shows the effect that torque has on a putter when allowed to swing freely. Then he invited the DF2.1 to eliminate torque in the revealer. Then he patented lie angle balancing. No other brand can eliminate torque in the same way to perfectly satisfy that revealor because lie angle balancing is patented. Why do you think pxg tried making they own revealor? So what are you taking about? lol.
