The thermometer on my porch, in the shade, was 102F this afternoon. I don't even want to think how hot it was in full sun. Zero rain this month, and extreeme heat has everything dried out. It is the first time I've seen the grass die off since living in Sylacauga AL. To keep the garden going, I have had to switch to daily watering. The exceptions are my fruit trees which get watered every four days with the newest trees, two peach and a crabapple, watered every other day, and the GreenStalks and raised bed tomatoes watered every other day. No signs of fungi, and pest pressure is sunder control. I am harvesting something nearly every day, peppers, pole beans (red noodle beans this year), lemon squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and tomatoes. The Sugar Baby Watermelon aren't producing as much as I had hoped for, but the cantaloupe are doing great, with more female flowers for future fruit. I think the watermelon need more sunlight. I may try growing them in a different location next year, and double the amount 0f cantaloupe. The chicken run was delivered this afternoon. I'll inventory thre parts tomorrow, and assemble it Thursday and Friday. The chick's wings are fully feathered, and their tail feathers hacve grown in. They are making a mess, learning to fly, dust bath, and scratching the pine shaving bedding. I have to clean the waterer multiple times a day. One more week, and they go in the chicken coop. It is fully assembled, and the perimeter of its run is lined with concrete pavers.

I take it off early in the morning and put it back on around 11 AM and they look pretty perky. In their native habitat in South America tomatoes grow in among tall trees in dappled sunlight. 😊
