Looking good, Garry. Remember to not fill the seam between the forward bomb-bay doors...They were opened to load the upkeep mine from the front. (It was too tall to be loaded from the rear.) After they closed the doors the vee-belt was refitted to the drive motor. Everybody loves Lancasters. Brilliant subject matter.

@@garys_stuff cheers Gary. I like the stuff you do as you don't pitch things at too high a level as they do on some other channels and you get just as good if not better results. I also understand we're from roughly the same neck of the woods. I come from Southall originally & used to have a Nan & Grandad luve in flats near to RAF Northolt. Keep up the good work.

Nicely done! 🙂 It's a great looking aircraft; yet another that I built about 5-odd years ago now! I cheated with the painting and used rattle cans - spray cans - for the main underside, and the brown upper coat, then hand painted Humbrol 163 green (if I remember right.... or was it a LifeColour dark green? Can't remember, however, Humbrol 30 is just not the right colour!!), for the camo finish! I also didn't mask off the fuselage side windows, as I believe from various sources in books and online, that they were painted over to prevent light-bleed....😉

Just finished the Lancaster B . Putting in the two side cockpit blisters was a pain. I used pva glue to avoid frosting, but took ages to get them to stick. Wish the cockpit canopy was in one piece.

My first kit on returning to to modelling and as yet untouched as I then found out what had happened to modelling since my early teens! Back then I used what was in the box and nothing else exc. Paint of course! So this has been saved in the GS folder and will be watched again when I do finally make the plane. Now Gary may I suggest you wear gloves or those cots things as it’s impossible not to get grubby finger nails! And the macro really highlights the lot mate. Good work with great tips and experience shared, keep up the ace work! Bob England

Hey Gary great video, about 5/6 weeks too late for me as I’m building BIII version at the moment. I had a massive issue putting the fuselages together, just didn’t line up and also some reaction when i was painting, suggestions think I should’ve washed the spures to get the releasing agent off - we live and learnt. Looking forward to seeing the finish article, good skills, cheers Liam

I had similar issues with the fuselage. Looks like the parts are too hot when they come out of the mould and the fuselage halves relax and flatten out a bit. Another one in the stash fits together perfectly.

Another great video Gary, it really put me in the mood for my kit. What a disappointment though, warped fuselage and nothing went together to the extent that its now on the shelf of doom. Getting quite tired of being let down by Airfix kits and I've got a 1/24 Typhoon in the stash! Sorry for the rant, but you've made a great build mate.
@GLYDR7 ай бұрын
Why is it necessary to be so particular when spraying the inside of the fuselage? , I mean it's not going to be visible anyway as it's on the inside
@garys_stuff7 ай бұрын
It's not necessary, it's a choice. Many of us wonder why we take so much time over things that will not be seen later, it's just part of the obsession of modelling I suppose. But you can make a view that you'll likely not see anything inside and not bother at all if you want - it's your choice and that's what matters.

Hi Gary, I'm new to modelling having only just completed my first airfix starter kit but find your work mesmerising...you make it look remarkably easy! Would you be able to list the tools and paint you use along the way for the model please? I'm hoping to make it my next kit and want to be fully prepared! Thanks for taking the time to share your work
@garys_stuff Жыл бұрын
For tools can I suggest to Ten Top Tips video I did ages ago - there is plenty of advice in there. The paints I used on this were all Vallejo Model Air acrylics - BS Dark Green, BS Dark Earth, Black, Tyre Black, Aluminium and Gunmetal. The kit will come with colour call-outs for Humbrol paints which you can use, or there are online conversion tables if you want to use someone else's colours.

Hi. Beginners question. I notice you put in painted parts using TET onto the painted surface. ( Instrument panel etc.) Can I do this without having to try and scrape paint off the very small parts?

I've never had a problem with that, to be fair, but you can try to make sure contact surfaces are clean.

@@garys_stuff Aha! Thanks very much! Having built a few Airfix kits in my youth (when a Series One kit cost 1/11d from my local toy & model shop!) I have decided to dabble anew with the hobby before I become too old and my eyesight too poor to manage the small parts. Accordingly I've purchased a Bf109 "Starter Kit", but have been eying up some of the bigger/more advanced stuff too.

Good evening Gary, I’m wondering if I may use your thoughts per your last reply. I have yet to do so, as this is beyond the copyright law. I wish to include your name but that’s just it, I’ll be using your name . I will not include your thoughts to my next message to Airfix as you may not be wanting to be used. I did send the airfix shop a note already. This aircraft is my own love for Canadians and, trust me, we number in the thousands. Any way, I don’t want you to think of me as a nasty pest so there it is then. Forever in His service
@garys_stuff Жыл бұрын
Alex, you don't need to use my name because it won't make a difference to Airfix! And I do understand the passion of Canadians as I have some family over there. All any of us can do is give Airfix our opinions and they will decide what they think is best for their company.
