Good suggestions. I've never seen anyone else suggest this. I was hoping you would show how to make the adjustments.

Just take off the rod that you wish to adjust up and down and place a cloth around the pedal rod as you put it in a vise really firm, then loosen the locking nut and rotate 1 or 2 rotations, turn the direction you need and tighten the nut back down and try on your steel and continue to adjust that way until you have it where you like it to be.

It'd be nice too Gary if you would show someone how to set pedal travel on the B pedal to give enough travel for a 22 round on the sixth string on the Mallons d10 Royal precision just like Lloyd Green has a 22 round on the sixth string if you can show a video how to do that I would really appreciate it thanks Dave

How could you tell with type of shoes you are wearing and you did not mention the Day setup all my Emmons are setup for the Day setup not emmons setup , and PS i wear shoes that i can feel the pedals through the shoes . It makes it a lot easier

A small percentage of players use the Day setup.

@@garysill You are correct, and before I wrote my book ("The Evolution of the Pedal Steel Guitar"), I called most of the builders. And I asked them what was the ratio; between Buddy Emmons and Jimmy Day setups. And all said, 80%/20%. And most said, "If the buyer does not tell us, we send it out with the Buddy Emmons setup. If some don't know about that; Buddy's is A B C and Jimmy's is C B A. And the left knee levers are usually switched accordingly. However, some keep these levers the same. Wow! That would drive me crazy. 🥴

Do they make a left footed steel like a left handed guitar?
@garysill2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but I am a lefty myself and it is less expensive to just learn to pick right handed and use your left hand on the bar. The left hand works better for us lefty’s because the bar is known to be the emotional voice in steel guitar. Call and I can talk concerning this. Gary Sill 217-433-7455

Yes, that is good. But I suggest: BEFORE you do that; you start by making every one 2 and 3/4 above the floor. Then, do what you did kind Sir. Then see how they feel on both necks. Then begin altering their heights to make it fit for you. And most builders send new PSG out; with all 8 at the same height. And some also use that standard 2 and 3/4 inch. Emmons did that; from when they went into business. As did others. In any case...may Jesus bless you and yours always.
