@@GarzaPodcast Mate you're absolutely killing it with the podcasts. You found a niche. For some reason nobody else gets all those extreme metal bands on a podcast format where you can really get to know them. Usually it's just 5 minute interviews without substance. Your podcast format however allows for proper conversations where you guys can have a profound discussion or simply goof around and nerd out. That's ace!

I used to get debilitating stomach pains at random all the time. It all stopped when I gave up energy drinks. There really is some terrible stuff in that. I switched to 5 hour energy years ago. It's a better burst of energy too. No jitters, no crash cuz there's no sugar. Also, I love this podcast. Keep it up!

Awesome pod cast!! I just checked these guys out. Really good stuff! 39:39 Yeah.. I remember "Pay to Play". It still happens unfortunately.. My band "HEAVE" did that for "Psycroptic", "Decrepit Birth" and "Fallujah" here at "The Whiskey a go go" last year. And then back in the day, when I joined a band in high school called [Omitted]. An "LA Hood" version of "Suicide Silence" and "Cannibal Corpse". Back in the day we paid to open up for bands like "Volumes" and "Glass Cloud".. Also at "The Whiskey".. With a $500 "Pay to Play" deposit fee where they give you tickets that YOU and the band have to sell or else they pocket the deposit money. Then you have to give back the reminding tickets to get your deposit back before you play on stage. It's great opening up for cool bands but the price needs to come down or the venues need to stop pocketing all the money. Venues even ask for a percentage of the band merch sales. Even with selling a lot of merch, bands today still struggle. Then you have venues that completely ignore the local metal acts in general like "The House of Blues" (Sunset location gone!) and "The Wiltern". Maybe back in the day "The Key Club", Old "Knitting Factory", were more open to having local metal acts here in the "Los Angeles/Hollywood area" but those places are gone now. Hopefully it can change so more heavy acts get a chance to get out there. Stay Brutal!

1:10:00 I'm the same. I listen to albums and love them but I don't look up song titles (unless it's a grindcore album because the titles are usually hilarious). If it's good it's good. Recently listened to three albums of The Red Chord and couldn't name you one song but I loved the albums. Annoys me when people act like knowing song titles is a requirement of being a fan of a band

Ok after my second rewatch, I caught you were talking to Bradley Zorgdrager aka Bradseed extraordinaire from Banger off screen. Have you seen his review of the self titled SS album? It did not hold back.

Yep! I first connected with Chris after Scott from Carnifex (for whom I work) was on the podcast, and I asked Scott if he thought Garza would want to interview Ricky. Garza texted me and said he was interested, so I asked if I could call him and was very upfront about what I'd said about SS. I thought it was the right thing to do, to mention it in case he didn't want to do something to help my career after I had reviewed something that he had done negatively, which could have negatively impacted his career. I was very humbled by Chris' levelheaded response to it, we chatted for another hour and a half, and have been friends since!

Great band these guys are killing it, but I hate that edgy “we wanna piss ppl off” mentality. In my opinion clean singing just completely takes you out of deathcore that’s not deathcore anymore but that’s not to say the music is bad that’s not an insult. Deathcore is a genre many people, myself included, grew up with and hold near and dear to our hearts and it’s a genre that has never incorporated any sort of clean singing I hate to be one of those guys but there really is no place for clean singing in deathcore. It would be like Cannibal Corpse doing clean vocals and still calling themselves death metal it just doesn’t work. That’s not to take away from how talented these guys are they’re doing amazing but to me they’re just making Metal music at the end of the day it’s not deathcore.
@anywhere_but_here
@anywhere_but_here 11 ай бұрын
just FYI, cleans have been in deathcore since the beginning, just off the top of my head: shapeshifter EP (2008) from the contortionist, triumph EP (2010) from lorna shore, bedsprings and bloodshed demo (2005) from salt the wound, awaken the dreamers (2008) from all shall perish, the list goes on. I think its silly to say ONE specific style of sound completely negates the genre, especially because deathcore is crossover of hardcore and deathmetal, and hardcore has plenty of "clean" vocals. You'd be hard pressed and look like a clown to try to argue any of those bands/releases i mentioned "arent deathcore".
