I also often use my basin wrench for things not basin related... my wife wonders why I buy tools non stop... plumbers understand why, if a tool does nothing for years and then saves the day at 3 am then it's worth it :)

This is when you appreciate those channel lock crescent wrenches, that thinner wrench is the only think that fits when the tank is done like that, too bad they don’t make it with a longer handle, though...sometimes that doesn’t work either. So what I do is saw the tank off right below where the nut is welded to tank, then you can get your big assed wrench on it.

I see many comments on removing the expansion tank and how much of a pain in the ass it is to get a wrench on top. Has anyone tried a strap wrench? I have been in the marine trades for 25 years and use strap wrenches all the time for turning shafts, moving generator electric ends etc. They come in all sizes and have one that would make it around that tank, it has a 3 ft handle.

Never use black iron for any part of a relief valve extension. Does not meet code in NJ Theory is it can rust with a seeping relief valve and form a rust clog.

Just a different kind of comment re the title: "gas boiler leaking water a lot of issues". Here in England the Ordnance Survey created 'official' maps of the country. They used to mark on the maps where water seeps out of the ground and becomes the source of rivers. So this emerging water is like the water leak on the boiler but is marked on the map as 'issues'. ! (In other words, water 'issues' out of the ground.) So it sort of ties the two parts of the title together !

Steve, enjoy your videos and learn from them. At 17:50, why didn`t you hit the female end with heat to expand the rusty connection of the expansion tank?? Would it damage something? I am helped by this maneuver pretty often with automotive and garage repairs/ disassemblies.

i see the end of the video the wheel simulators on your truck missing lug covers i think Pacific duallies makes them. not sure what company. Did you poke the top of the expansion tank with a screwdriver to see if it gave out ? unless her water supply has corrosive stuff in it in the system. not like the last other video you told the client they need a new boiler as its old. lot don't have money but operate antique equipment.

throttle bottle I had a helper draining an old expansion tank into a bucket and I showed him how to pull the valve core so it will drain faster. He dropped it into the bucket and splashed all in my face and mouth. He was frazzled and tried to get it quick and dropped it a second time, fully douching my shirt in the nasty water. Had to laugh.
