Is it an optical illusion or are the pulleys not aligned? Looks like from several views the blower pulley is out too far in relation to the motor. A metal yardstick can be used to check alignment for longer belt and pulley life.

Zinc die cast pulleys. That particular one is from Congress Drives in Texas (for all of you complaining about Chinese junk). Zinc cast pulleys are crap no matter where they are made. Probably cracked when pulling off the old motor. Thats the only time I've seen them come apart like that. Usually they eat their center bore because none of them are actually round and wobble themselves to death.

Hi Steve, this is off topic relative to your video, but I was wondering why my plumber told me to replace my water supply line to my toilet tank every time I take it off? For example, I remove a toilet to install a new tile floor, replace the toilet, then use a NEW supply line to the toilet tank. I had no idea that those things were one time use? I appreciate your generously informative videos! Stay awesome.
@wrknply7 жыл бұрын
I would inspect it but and if needed it should be replaced. NYC Plumber with over 10 years exp. Is it a solid or flexible supply?
@SpinyNormanDinsdale7 жыл бұрын
It was a flexible supply line. But it was the philosphy "replace every time" that had me confused. Otherwise, I think your idea of replacing as needed is intuitive. I did NOT argue, I respect trades a lot and try to absorb and apply good practices, but unfortunately for me I could not find any literature to back up his ideas.
@TONYTHETlGER6 жыл бұрын
Cheap insurance. Better than paying for water damage if the thing sprung a leak. Solid advice, really. Now if he's advising you to replace the fill valve every time you flush, then you need a new plumber.

@polishtheturdmickelson54737 жыл бұрын
Me too seeing that. I think it was made out of aluminum.
@jmbuchela54247 жыл бұрын
It never hurts to make sure the pulleys are aligned. Belts must be tensioned correctly. Unless it is an emergency always use a straight edge to align the pulleys, eyeballing it is not a good practice. Avoid sanding a shaft, brush it instead. If the pulley is made of aluminum and you can rotate it easily once mounted on the shaft before securing it into position, you will be back soon. Aluminum pulleys are not very forgiving, this is regardless of country of manufacture
@Sixta167 жыл бұрын
I'd guess it might not be aluminium, but sort of even cheaper zinc alloy.
@polishtheturdmickelson54737 жыл бұрын
Yeah, not sure Sixta16, Steve never said. But it wasn't solid, American made steel.
