First thing first I would like to wish Steve and his family a happy new year, I'm a plumber from NJ but I don't work on oil boilers so I have to call one of my friend that has a heating company to come an service my boiler. This Christmas (2017) night my oil boiler went down, my house went down to 57 by morning and my wife was not to happy with me but I have been watching your channel on oil boiler repairs so I went to the basement did some basic troubleshooting and find that the transformer was bad so I went to the supply house and made the repair. So in closing my house is at 70 and hold with this cold weather. Thank You Steve.

Hi Steve. I have been an oil engineer in Scotland for over 40 years the burners are a different set up to the ones you work on but the fault finding is the same and I have learned a lot since I started watching you, I was learned when fault finding it is oil, coil, spark, photocell, and control box in that order would you agree with this order, oh and one other thing I was I pleased with your handling of the mouse I couldn’t have gone into the basement with a mouse there thank god there isn’t basements in Scotland most boilers are in the house or external keep up the good work even us old engineers (63) learn a lot from you Thanks.

Steve, you are a wonderful humanitarian. Last week my Thermopride furnace gave up the ghost on the inducer motor. Only 3 years old and the bearings got toasted. It had to be replaced as a unit, not the motor alone. Was under warranty so only had to pay a labor charge. Well worth it. Regarding the little mouse, I have found using cooking oil rubbed into the fur that is attached to the adhesive breaks the glue bond and it is not toxic to the mouse. Glad you liberated the little guy.

You're good to all animals, Steve. I really admire that. Even bugs - you never hurt them. I heard to free a mouse from those horrid glue traps, all it takes it a little oil from the kitchen - vegetable oil, olive oil, cooking oil of some sort. The cooking oil breaks the bond, and the mouse can go free. ~Cindy! :)

Thanks for freeing that mouse Steve and good fix on that little 40k BTU, 80%er. I think i would of been more concerned about how to free that mouse than getting that lady heat if i was there, lol. I have a big heart when it comes to helping animals, even a mouse!

What would you do without the good ole SC56’er? Is that the original one that you've been using all these years or did you buy a few and squirrel them away for a rainy day? I think that's the best meter Fieldpiece ever made.

As a Masters of Jerry-Rigging, nothing more I despise is not doing a temporary fix, especially if elderly and children are involved.. Old Bryant furnaces are notorious for that.

I find it weird that the air filter leads into the area with the electronics like that. I don't think I have seen that before, usually the electronics are out of the airstream I thought. If a cap explodes or that transformer lets go, it would make a stinky mess of the entire house vs. just the vicinity of the furnace

A bound up draft inducer in the brute of the Northeast cold. not good. at least they gave you a C frame motor inducer for it near the end of the video i can hear your truck running at high idle to keep the baby dog warm and comfy. too bad you didn't do a combustion test on the furnace.

Video couldn't have come at a better time. Waiting on absentee landlord to arrive at location, to open house, received photos of system, old General Electric (birds nest) hot air system, fan running burner train not firing.. going to pull a Hail-Mary play. Johnston Supply is closed. Owner and tenant playing with it for a week, go figure, Million Dollar property in Douglaston Queens, everyone playing games via Home Depot (expert) advice.
