Yep. It's incredible how easy it is to fool people with wording like that, and get away with it. My favorites are adjectives such as "chocolatey" and "melty", which just mean "chocolate-like" and "like melted". I call hyped-engineered food like this "food analogues" - it kinda LOOKS like food, and kinda TASTES like food, but has more in common with a toy science kit (some of which can make edible things with far FEWER ingredients than these "patties").

There was a period in my life, about five years, when I literally lived on AM/PM food. Burgers, hotdogs, nachos, everything. I am a "hobby cook", a "foodie", whatever you want to call it, I just love to eat. I cook everything and I am willing to try whatever someone has to offer. I've had plenty of food in my forty years that I would call shit, I don't just call anything a good gourmet meal. Gas station/truck stop food is in no way authentic OR healthy........BUT damn, it is tasty! I am craving an AM/PM burger and nachos as we speak! The convenience store down the road has pizza pockets, jalepeno poppers and chicken crispito's that are to die for, and, admittedly, if you eat it for a month straight you just might die......but damn. Praise Jesus for tasty, albeit sinful, food.

7-11 had a Bahama Mama, it was a spicy 1/4lb sausage/hotdog, free cheese sauce, maybe some jalapeno's, I loved those things. Now I have found some Bodega's dive looking places in 'bad' neighborhoods with awesome food, 3 pieces of fried chicken, a biscuit and Jo Jo's for $2.49, dead serious I would be the only white guy in a mile, no one bothered me, they knew I was getting me some chicken. The gas station cheeseburgers, I love those, but I smother them with ketchup so I don't mind the salt. Walmart has these red hot 12 ounce burritos for a dollar, only thing I stay away from, buttered rolls and bagels with cream cheese from those places.

Bottled water has about 4. So if you drink at least 6 bottles per day that is a lot of ingredients. Mostly calcium and sodium.
@brians17936 жыл бұрын
Well that depends on how many different things you consider ingredients, like everything has water in it and is made up of a number of things even when it's one whole food with nothing added. That said, I get like 30 different things just from 'supplements' alone, which is mainly herbal stuff but also raw freeze-dried beef organs from Ancestral Supplements, the bone marrow, brain, and beef organs is 10 different things alone. A lot of the 'supplements' I take are really just food, but taken only for nutrition. I don't really eat meat daily but know someone I could start getting grass fed beef from $3.50 a lbs so I'll probably add that, but am avoiding meat if I don't know where it's coming from. So the organs are amazing for that, WAY better nutritionally than just meat, then I'm eliminating dairy other than ghee/butter. Only other things from animals would be collagen, fermented skate liver oil, and black ant extract, might try cricket protein. So very plant-based with only adequate things from animals, really getting into intermittent fasting, OMAD too and getting serious about this shit lol. But even then, I probably would be amazed at the number of things I take in weekly. Trying to be grain-free too, and take in lots of sprouted and/or fermented things. Been eating yogurt made with raw young coconut instead of taking coconut oil, 8g fat per serving and a whole food so that seems a better option than just taking the oil. Really Raw Honey is legit raw and is amazing on Sprouted for Life 3 Seed bread with some sunflower or almond butter, almond is actually a seed too might as well be nut-free most days too.

Good tip for all coming from a factory vending machine connoisseur.....heat the meat part by itself wrapped in a napkin or paper towel, it’ll scare you how much grease soaks into the towel. Set aside. Heat the buns 20-30ish seconds to where theyre hot to the touch. Reassemble adding the cheese and do another 20ish seconds.Trust me. It keeps the bun from getting those rock hard spots. Extra tip: You can set the cheese on the meat while you’re microwaving the buns. The key is to not over cook the bread

At $2.99 I can't really understand why anyone would buy one of these. You'd be so much better off just buying two McDoubles or two McChickens from McDonalds. Id love to ask these companies why they need so many ingredients. Seems like a chicken breast and some breading with Mrs Dash would be all you need for a good sandwich. Nothing on here looked good and I would much rather go to McDonalds over a cstore.
@Valanway6 жыл бұрын
Most of the time, the ingredient are for longevity and taste preservation. All natural, good-quality ingredient only last a very short amount of time, and go rancid far before store would be able to sell even a 50th of their stock. A good amount of the ingredients are for flavor too. All natural doesn't always mean good tasting, or good tasting for long. And for the people who aren't brought up to be terrified at synthetic flavors and the like, or know better, know that a lot of the time, all the lab-mad fillers are identical to what you'd naturally get out of the food, but in a cheaper and more easily produced manner. That being said, even with lots of preservation ingredients or synthetics, if it's bad quality or just lazily produced, it'll taste and look bad, regardless of intentions.

Sheetz is an awesome gas station or deli or deli with a gas station. Idk what they’re considered. Sheetz, Wawa started as Delis but now they’re gas stations on every corner with FRESH lunches; Burritos, Burgers, etc. So yea, if you live by a (if you live up North like me) Sheetz or Wawa(if you live down south), and if you don’t feel like going to wait in a fast food drive thru for hours on end, and if you’re in a hurry in lunch or dinner or breakfast, then go to Wawa or Sheetz.

Just curious: when you spoke about Stewart's sandwiches at the beginning of video, you stated the company originated in Bloomington, INDIANA but the caption on the pic said Bloomington, Minnesota??? My son has lived and currently works in Bloomington, IN. Which is it??
@ramivalencia6 жыл бұрын
I used to eat this type of sandwich in college several times a week. After going to class and studying the whole day, I'd be so hungry, I'd eat anything. Also, this type of food was cheap and sold in vending machines in front of our dorms lol. So, it was a no-brainer.

Bloomington, Minnesota, my guy. I’m from the Minnesota twin cities and these sandwiches are in 2/3rd of the gas stations around here. Are they prevalent in gas stations outside of the Midwest? Thanks in advance =]

A bit of advice when you cook meat and want to get away from the salt. Try using fresh cracked pepper and garlic powder ( not garlic salt) on your burger or steak and you will find that they give the meat a good taste and add NOTHING NASTY or CALORIC to your body. Skip the salt or if you MUST have it use 1/4 less than normal.

GOOD video and assessment. Years ago I ate enough Stewart sammiches to pop the tires on an 18 wheeler. I'm still here but might've been in better shape if I hadn't. You hit the proverbial nail on the head and no feelings were hurt in the making of this video.

The only dislike is cotto salami with huge black pepper chunks bite down on one pepper corn and tongue goes numb for a while. Ruining the taste of the pickle and chips that usually goes with a sammich.

Larry! No TVP in the chicken, but what about the added soy protein concentrate and hydrolyzed corn and soy proteins? Are these the better tasting cousins?
@chaosmcb82854 жыл бұрын
If you want the buns to be less soggy try disassembling the sandwich and heat the meat with any cheese if it has it in a toaster oven and lay the bun face down on top of the toaster oven for about 30 seconds, it'll heat up nice and the bun will be warm
