Gasco Regulator Venting

Discussion of common gas regulator venting issues and concerns including sizing guidelines and manufacturers suggested usages. Gas Venting regulations will vary from state to state and county to county so GASCO suggests you always follow local code requirements.
Vents provide a leak path for the gas when a regulator fails. With venting it is not the amount of air being moved through the pipeline, it is that the air has to be moved effortlessly with no restriction of the diaphragm. In this video GASCO discuses proper regulator line size and vent placement.

I have 2 natural gas furnaces in the attic. Is it normal to smell gas in my attic because the gas regulator is venting gas?

According to the NFPA code 2018, UL 651 Rigid PVC can be used for regulator venting.
