A stage play whose title has even entered our language as a term to describe one who imposes his lies on others and treats them as mad if they dare to say the truth... It's nonetheless a Victorian-set crime thriller with plenty of atmosphere, and in this instance an excellent cast. Corin Redgrave appears as Sergeant Rough, a retired detective who it would be easy to suspect is meant to be Sergeant Kuff from Wilkie Collins's The Moonstone...

That's correct, but it was originally a Fantom Films production, so it hasn't been on the BBC, so like their rerecordings of the Victor Pemberton plays Night of the Wolf and The Dark, it won't ever be on this channel. It can be heard through commercial outlets though.

@@mysteriousmagpie oh I didn’t know that it had been a phantom films production. I thought that that version as well was produced by the BBC. You uploaded a documentary to the mysterious magpie channel, the other day called it was a dark and stormy night. I commented on it as you’d previously uploaded it 7 months ago.
