Sometimes the personal splurge that makes our soul happy is something that nobody else understands. That's okay if you know in your heart it's not a waste for you and lifts you up. I splurged on a $200 Keurig coffee pod machine that has the extra milk frother/heater on the side, I don't use it everyday, but in the cold winter months that little milk heater/spinning frother just makes me happy like an extra hug.

Savers is a huge for-profit thrift chain in North America . Closest stores to me are in Buffalo, NY. In Canada, the stores are called Value Village. No coloured tag sale systems but Tuesdays are 30% off for 60+ shoppers. Also, if you make a donation, you receive a coupon for 20% off your purchase up to a total bill of $50. Prices at Value Village are high (most clothes and shoes are way overpriced) and the highest of all surrounding thrift stores. You can find some good things there but I always take advantage of Seniors Day & coupons. They also have a points program so you can build up points the more that you shop then use the points to reduce your total.

One of the things I like about you Karen is the fact you take time to clean an item, before you sell. I would bet that does take some time which is why you try to keep to a minimum. I understand purchasing an item and keeping it for a few day to see how it “feels.” When I go to a store like Walmart, I get so excited about a lot of things, put them in my cart, walk around with them. Then when it’s time to check-out, I start putting things back that I don’t really need or want with the feeling that I had already owned them for a while.

I love my old school Nespresso machine! The 1st time I saw the model I bought, I was at a conference at a high end hotel and they had it out for the guests to use. The espresso was divine! I called the hotel back once I was at home and they provided me with the model. At the time, they were going for over $1200, but I found one online for $800 new with a discount of $300 - so I paid $500! It still works like new and makes the best espressos. The pods are a bit pricey, but worth it IMO. I really like those metal bookends and bird! Bummer about the pricing of the Savers items.

I don’t understand their rationale - they're already getting all of their inventory FOR FREE, and now they're gonna take away all our incentives for shopping there?!? Nice bank and a fun find. These banks were repoduced in the 1970"s and a few more years onward. I"ve been a dealer since 1970 and had the wholesale catalogs for them . They were popular then as the price for the vintage was high. The paint is too bright. check the iron on the seems that join the bank elements they will be either slightly rough or very rough. There is some collector value to this era bank but not the same as the vintage turn of the century through 20's etc.
