the soldiers who survived the gas were on most likely limited time before they succumbed to their wounds from it so with their last bits of energy and fight they got up and fought on even if it meant death from their wounds they put the fear into the enemy soldiers causing them to mass retreat. may the men at the fort who died may they rest in peace and their souls be in a better less troubled place

yep, they died later but they managed to survive a but more because they used wet clothes as a weak filter, its the same thing that they tell you to do when there is a fire near and a lot of smoke because the wet cloth helps you a bit with the smoke or in this case the gas

Just got done watching this and their reaction to Christmas Truce. I got to say, this is awesome, taking characters from Gate and having them react to Sabaton is so cool. This video is slightly innacurate, because in actuality, not all of the Germans turned and ran, some of them actually continued to charge the Russians. All who attempted to press the attack were mercilessly slaughtered in a ferocious battle, which was mostly fought hand-to-hand as the Russians couldn't actually see clearly enough to shoot accurately. They used their bayonets as spears and their rifles as clubs, they used axes, shovels, knives, and broken tree branches in a sort of berserker-styled attack, all while one or two of the Russian howitzers were brought up and fired into the retreating Germans. This event rapidly became headline news all aroudn the world, however the dead mens' sacrifice would be in vain, as Osowiec was captured a few weeks later. Only two battles would be won by the Russians throughout WW1.
