very nicely explained...in our college most of the teachers simply explain the textbook lines and solved some problems.. except a few teachers all others are doing their work merely for salary, no dedication.. no ethics or may be they don't have any conceptual clarity.....

sir u have said...."youngs modulus is the value of stress which can double the length of material or member". sir my ques. is that if it can't double the length, then what it is????
@sustainably
@sustainably 4 жыл бұрын
Hope this will help. (As this is taken as learning platform, I would encourage the fellow students to comment). Young modulus is the property of material. Its is'nt depended upon the geometry of the material. In the given material, regardless of how it deforms on the given load. The Young Modules remain unchanged. For example, the standard value of 200 GPa is considered as Young Modulus of steel wire. Let's take two steel wires A and B. Steel wire A, 10 m steel wire is extended by applying 10 kN force and steel wire B, 10 m is extended by applying 20 kN force. Both steel wire A and B will poses Young Modulus E, 200 Gpa. The reason is, when you increase the force. This also caused to increase the stress and strain (remember the Stress is directly proportional to Strain) in the wire. Likewise, if you take 10 diameter of steel wire and 20 diameter steel wire and apply the force. The Young Modulus of steel wire remain unchanged. In here, he is simply trying to tell us that, as the stress increases the strain increases too and this gives a value of Young Modulus (E=stress/strain). If the length has'nt increased (no deformation) or doubled than it might have not reached its limit of proportionality.
