Types of Stresses: 1. Normal Stress: -> This stress is perpendicular to the section under observation. *Obliquity: The angle between the longitudinal axis and oblique section ->If the obliquity of section is 90 then it's called Longitudinal stress. Types of Longitudinal stress: 1) Tensile: Extends the object 2) Compressive: Compresses the object 2. Tangential Stress: -> It acts parallel to the surface or acts tangentially.

As the stress is due to resistance force , compressive force should cause tensile stress because resistance is of opposite direction than force. And vice versa for tensile force. Please clear this doubt😅
