Sir question m free expansion at the fourth edge pucha h Wo to ( alpha) (delta t) (L) hoga na? Apne isme (u) (alpha) (delta t) (L) bhi add kia h. Ye to change in length due to stress in y direction h , to ise kyu add krenge? Sir plz explain. Video time - 15:51

@arpitasahoo9968 3 жыл бұрын
You have to add ∆x free expansion + ∆x stress which is (alpha)(delta t)(length) + (mu)(alpha)(delta t)(length)
@arpitasahoo9968
@arpitasahoo9968 3 жыл бұрын
∆x stress = (epsilon x) * (length)

strain acting in x and y both axes .both strains are acting mutually prpendicular .but you added both strains linearly.why?
@akshaypunjabi9083
@akshaypunjabi9083 4 жыл бұрын
Strain is generated in a direction and doesn't act. The reason for acting both the strains is for total deformation to be obtained, you need to consider the change in length in the available direction due to all the stresses acting on the element. In this case, as there is a free expansion in x-direction and an additional expansion provided to the material in x-direction due to compressive stress being generated in y-direction, Sir has added both to get the total deformation.
