I’m so glad you are posting these videos about gather round, it is so encouraging. We love love love gather round. We have six kids and they all completely love it. I’ve even bought some of the merch for myself and my children. I teach from kindergarten to high school and believe me it is completely enough.

I LOVE hearing your experience with it!! That's so fantastic that you are enjoying it with such a wide range of ages! I agree that it is a very well rounded curriculum!

I'm looking into new curriculum this year. I have a '2nd grader and '4th grader' . An I did a lot of work last year trying to plan and teach both together. I didnt want a lot of separate stuff. Aside from Math, even then my youngest still participated and learned things his older sister was working on. Im wondering How is Gather round used? Say I pick one unit topic. Does it cover everything? Or is it "language arts and reading" focused? Will I have to add in math , like masterbooks separate?

@@ashleyf3000 Gather 'Round sounds like it would be great for you! It covers all the subjects except math, and you do all the learning together as a family! It's also very adaptable, so if you choose go take longer on a unit (we always do!) you can easily do that.

Great video! We are first time homeschoolers, my 10th grader just started Human Body and is really enjoying it. We are going slow because its so new to us, but hope to build it up if necessary. I see binders, would love to see how you use them for Gather round. Thank you and blessings to you!!!

Each of my children have sturdy binders with dividers that we keep all their subjects in that aren't in a workbook. Each of them had a Gather 'Round section, and I would print the pages I wanted them to do for each lesson, and have them put the pages in their binders when we sat down to do the lesson. As you saw, we didn't do all the notebooking pages, but preferred to pick and choose. Be sure to check out the Crash Course Human Anatomy videos on KZbin for your 10th grader. They are great! Also, if you have younger kids, we LOVED the Operation Ouch videos on KZbin as well, and watched them for every lesson. Even my oldest enjoyed many of those!

How do you find a trello board?
@karlacanon25072 жыл бұрын
I just downloaded the Trello app on my ipad and search for "Gather Round Botany" or whatever I wanted! You can also look in the Gather 'Round app and Facebook page for recommendations of boards for each unit there!

Looking at gather round for our next homeschool year. I do have a question, I hear some supplement with GR and some don’t, did you supplement or just use it as a main curriculum?
@karlacanon25073 жыл бұрын
We use GR as a family subject so we can all enjoy doing units together. I do use a mix of other curriculum as we have been homeschooling for a long time and like our writing and grammar programs, etc. We don't do GR every day, but do really enjoy it the days we use it!

I am looking forward to your next video! This has been our first year homeschooling, and we used Gather Round. We have enjoyed the year 1 units we have done, the year 2 unit we tried has not been a favourite and has been a lot more. I am trying to figure out how to continue with some of the units we are interested in, but also to try out some other curriculum, particularly in LA, and some specific science topics that were requested by my kids.

The year 2 units do look like there is more to them. We are planning on doing Botany next so I'm interested to see how it compares to the year 1 units. I'm happy to spread it out as long as it takes since we do use other things for language arts, etc. What unit did you do from year 2?
@jennifermittler60243 жыл бұрын
@@karlacanon2507 we did Transportation. With 3 boys we all thought it was going to be a hit, but it definitely wasn’t a favourite compared to others we have done. Their favourites have been Space, Asia, and North American Birds.
