Gathering Cattle in Steep Country - The Back 900

Helping some friends gather cattle off the back side of their ranch, which is a steep canyon down to the river. The only way to get the cows out is to ride around and drop into the canyon before bringing them back out and over the top. Riding this country isn't for the faint of hart but sure helps make good horses.

Crazy how similar that country looks to where I help my cousin gather cattle in the fall. Good times, wore out horses by the end.

Buen día 🇲🇽 What a nice video, it reminds me of the days and times when I drove cattle down from mountains to get branded and vaccinated, the only difference is that on steep country like this we only use mules and that way we avoid having to get down on foot cuz them cows will take advantage of that. This country reminds me of California’s Tejón Ranch Where was this video filmed ? Saludos 🇲🇽

To all the guys asking where this is, I’m not sure but I would guess extreme eastern Oregon near Idaho border. That’s where you’ll find this kind of country.
