HI there! Trying to let my followers know, I won't be posting new content on KZbin any more - I'm switching to Twitch. (KZbin pulled my monetization a while ago and I prefer Twitch as a platform anyhow). If you follow me for the costume stuff, please sign up for Twitch (FREE) and follow me. It only takes a minute of your time and is a huge thank-you for all the unpaid time I spend preparing these presentations and videos. Thank you kindly. My profile is at twitch.tv/kaydra_ and you hit the heart button near the top right to follow.

You are such a good teacher, came across the threading one like 8 month ago, it saved me an afternoon, and now another good one.I will check your blog, thanks

I didn't get to finish, that step is for gathering step for sewing with a regular machine. You lay your index finger horizonally against the pressure foot. Thank goodness for KZbin and thanks to you for helping out. No thanks to Brother's instruction, they're poorly lacking, however, this is the best serger I've ever had and I've had a Bernette and a Juki but the stitches and threading drove me nuts!! For the money, this is a jewel

I just ordered my serger.. and am glad you put the fear out of threading this monster to rest. I wanted to make sure I could do it BEFORE I take on this beast. Thanks again for a clear and concise video!!

Another Academy Award!! I just read that you were using the regular foot for gathering. You should have received a gathering foot as well as a hemming foot with that machine. Try writing to them and see if they'll send you a set since they're supposed to be in all the boxes. BTW, I guess you know it but for those who don't, you can gather by holding a finger against the back of the pressure foot as you sew, you release as it bunches up and repeat. You're doing a great service to us, tha

Thanks so much for this. I have a serger I have never used before and I have been wanting to make a ruffled shower curtain. I am sure it will be super easy now knowing more about my serger and how I can use it to make the finished edge and gather my fabric!! Who needs to spend $118 on an Anthroplogy shower curtain...not me!

I agree with the previous post! You seem super awesome/cool...I love that your videos are thorough in that you state what you are doing and your thinking behind it (which is super priceless for someone like me who has bought a serger and basically I just look at it when I go in my sewing room oblivious to all I can really do...I have been just putting it off getting started until I feel knowledgeable enough about it...I want to sew garments..but really I'm just now learning). If you can give us a good playlist...I promise you'll get a lot of views because there are so few good videos on serging (techniques, applications, troubleshooting, and overall understanding of how to get the most of out it). Personally, I would love to see more of your projects...(tutorials on making something functional would be awesome). Wishing you all the best and great success...looking forward to seeing more of your work...Thanks so much for sharing and for all that you do for us new learners :-) Blessings, E.

I used to be able to gather on this serger. I have followed all of your instructions several times and wonder if something is wrong with it because it no longer gathers.
@EnchantedSea7 жыл бұрын
Most likely a tension issue -- fiddling with making the tension higher on certain dials could help, or even the big screw that's on the top of the machine (near the left, on the very top of the machine) you can turn a quarter turn right for even more tension, or left for less tension, but don't do dramatic adjustments! I've found every fabric needs a different setting for both serging and for gathering (thin vs thick, etc). But my machine also hasn't been serviced in 6 years and my tensions are totally out of whack, so I have to make dramatic adjustments to get different fabrics to work well now. Hope you can play around with it. If not I may be uploading a tutorial on ruffling foots on regular machines, for even tighter gathering/pleating (you can only lightly gather on the serger).

I just bought the 1034D. is it necessary to thread the machine in the order you show for it to work? the thread just comes straight out without looping when i run it.

After I gathered, like in your first example with the white fabric, what do I do to lock that stitch? In another words, how do I secure so the ruffles to stay that way and don't lose them in case I stretch the material?
