Love the island, it also a much better way to get the firmament dyes than the firmament. Also got the voucher mount 4x. Though only able to sell one. So many undersell and they get bought before mine and more show up underselling and they get bought.

You can actually hit 2 star legendary nodes with the ilvl 560 gear if you have the max ilvl tools, so it's a bit faster to have materia that way

Also you should set a confirm button to go through the spiritbond menu faster without having to aim your mouse all the time lol

Also if you have done hunts/roulletes in EW you probably have lots of cracked anthoclusters, you can actually use those for materia transmutation, by using materias X you have a small chance of upgrading to the next tier (kinda rare like 10%?) still something to prep if you wanna get a headstart on materias...

One thing ive been wondering about is how is the new crafting set made? Is pentamelded indagators capable of making the new set at HQ? Or is there an intermediate set usually?

According to the Teamcraft Prep Guide, even a set of Lv90 Scrip Gear will be enough to craft the new Lv100 Crafting/Gathering Sets! I've talked with a few others as well, and that seems to be the consensus based on previous expansions. As long as you've got that, or better if you've got some melded Indagator's, you'll be good to go!

Usually it’s the intermediate. Pentamelded HQ indagator won’t take us all the way unfortunately :(

From my experience, the indagators will be enough to get you to lvl 100. There are usually three end level crafted sets. The first that will be available at the beginning will likely be better at HQ unmelded than current max meld ind gear. The second set will be from the first set of masters books - ind gear will likely be able to craft this but you may want to have moved to the first 100 gear to be able to get new materia and make crafting this easier. Last will be the second set of masters books, which will be the lvl 100 equivalent to the indagators - you will certainly want lvl 100 gear to make this set - but this will be some time down the road anyway.

math is kinda off on how many purple scrips you can start with converting 4000 white scrips at a 4:1 ratio means getting 1000 so you’d start DT off with 5000 purple scrips

Whatever you can get the cheapest or happen to have lying around. The only thing that matters for spiritbonding is to have the maximum number of materia melded, it makes zero difference what kind.

adding to the other comment, be careful, even numbered materia (x, viii and so on) can NOT be melded past the 1st overmeld. so to meld into the later spots, you need the odd leveled materias.

How did you open that spiritbond video?

Under your Actions & Traits Menu (I think Default key is "P"), go to the "General" tab, and there is an Icon called "Materia Extraction" You can drag that onto your hotbar and use it anywhere! Or you can right click your gear and click "Extract Materia" but make sure you DON'T click "Retrieve Materia" as that's different!

i kinda got into the game late so i was JUST able to max every DoL/H at 90. spent some time getting the scrip gear since i thought theres no reason to burn so much effort getting the 1st BiS. will the 620 scrip gear with melds be able to craft the next BiS in DT?? :'D

From everything I know, it *should* be enough! We will know for certain when it comes out, but if it isn't there will be much easier ways to get gear to make the new stuff, so I'd just wait it out if I were you!

This is the only mmo where ive never actually found any use for the currency, all the gear is given as you progress and then through tomestones. I have millions and nothing to do with it lol

Absolutely! This game is interesting in the fact that you don't *need* currency, but there are tons of very expensive things that you can get if you have it! There's at least a few mounts that you can only buy in game for millions (one of them is 50 million Gil)! As well, if you're into going to the peak of either Savage raiding, or Crafting/Gathering Pentamelding, it can end up costing a lot to get all the Materia you need if you don't want to spiritbond it yourself. It just depends on what you enjoy! (I don't even mention housing, because that's a whole different expensive hobby)

I already got mine ready. I don't really go ham on the making of gil with miner or botanist, but I have the new gear I made recently fully pentamelded. I have a SHIT TON of cracked crystals and a full retainer full of materia I can transmute for when Dawntrail drops to make a shit ton of gil off of them probably lol

the time it takes to spirit bond is not worth the small amount of gil it generates-the materia market has not been reliable since server visit-there's much more effective, fun, and passive ways to make way more gil

so you... are basically melding random materia that has no effect on your gear just so you can spiritbond it and get more materia to sell, and that's how you're making money? Cause otherwise its NOT worth pentamelding gear just to extract more materia, no matter how much money new materia goes for. The amount of materia you blow melding is INSANE. It's not a gil making strat AT ALL.

No? I think you've misunderstood. You penta-meld with gathering materia, but if you are doing some of the budget melding sets occasionally they leave the 5th slot open (not using a gathering materia) so you want to make sure you fill that with any materia to increase the spiritbonding. Also, the low level combat materia goes for such a small amount of gil. Piety I are about 30gil a piece. You could use 1000 of those and if you got 1 level 12 materia you'd make back your gil, so technically even doing the idea you're thinking of can still make you money.

Side note: do NOT buy grade 1 materia. Those are actually relatively expensive because you can only get them from extraction and they're used in the ARR relic weapons. Grade 3/4 are your go-to for bonus melds

@@TenelenTheScrub But you're still overmelding *some* gathering materia for the budget set, right? I think that's where the confusion lies. If you are, then aren't *you* the market the materia farmers are selling to? Before you could make any profit you would have to gather as much materia as you spent melding, assuming it sells at the same price you pay for it (which I kind of think it would drop in value over time, right?).
