oh, okay, this is like a regular trick-taking with bidding, but you also score like a melding game, with a whole meld-pointing phase (except you hang on to the cards you score as though they were melds). this has been an elucidating series, I must say, I really appreciate the way that you tutorialized by "building up" different elements of these trick-taking games. I don't entirely understand the strategy, but I definitely have a much stronger grasp on what trick-taking games are and how they work. thanks.

What would happen if a player, having a card of the following suit, lies by playing another card?

Please explain the rules for bidding like what's the criteria, etc.

I think the final scoring was incorrect because team 2 didn't match their bid and therefore lost 29 points.

No, they didn't, because it's the 22 points from melding + the 23 points from the play to = 45, which is more than their bid of only 29 points.
