Gator grad 85 here, I support Billy and have since we hired him, I do not want us trading coaches every 4 years like we have for the last 20 plus years

Gators have a good football team. They got screwed by referees at Tennessee. They had Georgia beat until they lost their QB. Finally they got to show how good they are when they whipped LSU.

Appreciate your objective take on teams even when you hate them. Haha. I’m agree. Keeping Napier is the right move. And honestly I thing a lot of teams should learn from this. Living in the, I want everything now world we live in has done a diservince to many teams. Including Florida. Creating a long term system that’s set in place for years to come I think is the super power in a culture that rejects anything that takes time to build. If we can get a few more good recruits along with a couple big wins in the portal at the end of the season, nobody will look forward to playing us next year. I also think despite the media and fans wanting so badly the change at the beginning of the year, on the inside of the program they feel like the plan is still being executed despite it coming a little slower. Lastly. I just think, even with the hardest schedule in college football which is a factor for this Florida team. What would our record look like if Lagway was QB 1 from the gate. All through spring camp and into the start of the season. We maybe end up with a pretty impressive record despite the daunting schedule. Great job. Enjoying your videos. Keep making them!!! You’re doing great. Go UF 🐊

Appreciate it. Yeah, try to be objective & I've been as hard on Billy as anyone. I do think there's a chance he turns it around, but even if not - this was probably the best short term move anyway. It seems like UF is trending well but CFB is insane and you never really know. Thanks for tuning in!

As a Die Hard Gator fan, i was 100% OUT on Billy since basically the end of his furst season, but when we lost to Miami i had my pitchfork ready! However, i saw how Mullen lost the locker room in his final season and how much of a trainwreck that was, so, for me to see our guys playing as hard as they are when they basically have nothing to play for, has made me buy back in.... i truly believe Napier CAN turn things around, we need an OC desperately, but with Napier and Lagway i truly believe next year could be a 1 or 2 loss season, it better be with the 27 MILIION DOLLARS we have to dump into recruiting this season that was supposed to be his buyout money... im back in, because i dont have a choice, i just want my team to win at any and all costs

Feel you there. I know Gator fans hate the moral victory crap, but let me tell you - as a fan of a team that DID quit, I'd trade places in a heartbeat. Credit goes to Napier & hit staff for that for sure!

I started off the year wanting to keep Napier until 2025 because the rebuild process was daunting. After TAM, I wanted Napier to be gone ... yesterday. Lately I've seen major improvement, esp of defense, which has been lacking for the last 5 years. Dr Dugas, a KZbiner, said when a team gets better over the course of the year it's because of good coaching. When they get worse over the year, it's bad coaching. Florida is getting better. I still question whether Napier is a good game-day manager but the team is getting better as the year goes on and I'm at the point where I'm perfectly fine with Napier being the coach going into 2025.

Nothings changed for me I’ve said we should keep Billy,,,just cuz it hasn’t happened right away we haven’t been relevant,shhhhhhh but I seen the culture shift the talent we have coming in this is different slow but it’s coming fans and there opinions only have hurt us chanting fire Billy when everyone of them guys line up for him.

I have been about as hard on Billy as anyone in the Gator Nation. I still think Stricklin is a terrible AD and his vote of confidence was more about self preservation than anything else. The fact is, he is 16-19 at Florida, which is the worst record any Florida coach has had since the 1940’s with blowouts at home. I dont think he had to team ready to play against Miami. However, we have an actual victory to go along with the “playing hard” moral victories some people have been claiming. That changes things, It took a lot more than one loss for Napier to lose me and it’s going to take a lot more than one win for him to win me back. But Billy has earned the right to try finish the season. Beat FSU and get bowl eligible, win the bowl game and finish 7-6. That would be progress to justify more time. Prove me wrong and keep up the momentum. I absolutely do have questions. He’s got to make some changes this offseason. But now I’m at least willing to see where this goes. You want to see what this team is made of? Darth Kitten is coming to town next week....off a BYE. I think he wants to embarrass Billy and Scott and send a message to UF players. If this team can make him sweat and shut him up.....that would speak volumes about Billy's program

The deck was stacked against Napier from the beginning. 1. Mullen left with less than average talent especially on OL and DL. 2. The portal system was just getting started with UF’s boosters not being aggressive like a Miami or FSU. 3. Same for HS recruiting when it comes to NIL spending. Not enough money. 4. UF’s fan base has zero patience. Heck they ran off Spurrier and Urban because 10-2 isn’t good enough. They were calling to fire Napier after his first season. 5. The SEC has shit on the Gators with their scheduling. Texas and Ole Miss get a bye week before they play Florida? Florida plays 5 of the Top 15? Navigating a new NIL and Portal isn’t easy. Ask Norvell. Napier has his QB1. Mertz while efficient was not going to make a huge difference. Lagway is special. He makes his teammates better. He’s perfect to run Napier’s offense. A lot of people who know football better than me say Napier’s offense is top notch. Lagway says it. If Florida spends some money on NIL it could have an elite team next year.

Look at south carolina stickn with their coach! Fans have no patience anymore...

I think now and thought then that it was the right move. First, ever since Tennessee, the team has played hard. They have improved. And they are resilient. For example, they went down a touchdown against Georgia late in the third quarter, with the third string QB, and everybody assumed that was it. But they scraped back another touchdown to tie the game 20-20 late into the 4th. They became a team EASY to root for--I can only assume that for FSU fans, the current roster is NOT as easy to root for. Second, Lagway appears to be special. Fire Napier, and Lagway probably leaves, to become the next big deal somewhere else. What will Gator fans be saying if he's in Heisman hunt in the next two years--somewhere else? Oops? Third, we keep firing coaches after three or four years. That always loses at least one recruiting class, and with the transfer portal maybe more. And what if we don't get Kiffen, or another A-lister, but our third choice like we got with Mullen? If we give him enough time and money and facilities--and patience--our job is more attractive to A list coaches.

My concern with keeping Napier is that 2025 looks like it could be the biggest coaching carousel of all time. The only thing I'm not sure about is how NIL and paying the players is going to affect that. Maybe schools aren't going to be as fast on the trigger as they have been in the past. Money otherwise used on big buyouts can buy a lot of players to make a subpar coach decent.

If Coach Napier can get the talent to surround JD Lagway I can see them playing championship ball.
@adammauer64243 сағат бұрын
I think Napier is starting to win Florida fans over and it’s really really really hard to wanna get rid of the guy who signed lagway . Lagway is loyal it would be odd to get rid of a guy the players seem to not quit on . Even in turmoil he hasn’t lost the locker room
@hilbertshotelСағат бұрын
I think we’re in trouble if Napier needs a once-in-a-generation QB to win football games. That said, the defense has been playing light years better since the aTm game-Texas excluded (3rd-string QB and defense).
@springerbrady10 сағат бұрын
I’ve kind of said the same thing about this and most skater fans disagree with me. This decision probably came down to Lagway and other talented young players Napier has recruited. I think, regardless of how this year goes. if Napier stays, Lagway stays. If Lagway stays, he could be the key to take them to the next level, regardless of the coach is. Agreed Napier is not a good Saturday coach. But neither was Kirby smart. It was evident smart could recruit at an elite level, but for the first handful of years, he was always knocked for his game day coaching.

We are finally seeing results that things are moving in the right direction, and there is the light at the end of the tunnel of finally being done with "rebuilds". Florida fans hold a grudge like no other, seems pretty low IQ to me. Billy Napier and this team have both improved since he was here, most importantly, the team is 100% behind him which should speak volumes.

I’m not sold. Look at Florida’s wins. Samford, enough said. Mississippi State is dead last in the league. Kentucky and UCF are not good football teams. Kelly has lost the locker room and LSU will struggle to win another game. Sure, there are two moral victories against Georgia and Tennessee, and the team is playing hard, but the reality is Napier still hasn’t done much on the field.

if they lose to Charleston Southern, then Norvell will be on the hot seat. Without last season, he has a record worse than Napier, almost (not quite) as bad as Taggert. The only thing saving him is a huge buyout ($63 million)
