I think it’s a positive that Florida fans are disappointed in the UT loss. There are now expectations. There has been steady improvement - too slow for fans - but improvement. Defense is playing well, Lagway is coming along ahead of schedule, running game has been better. Not a popular opinion but I think we have to give Napier the entire season to see how things play out. If they continue to improve, make fewer mistakes (one OL guy is a problem consistently there) and challenge the very good teams left … might roll into the offseason on a positive note. Nobody thinks Napier is a lock, he just has way too many losses, but he is playing younger guys who he recruited and they seem to have bought into the program. Might be very close to turning a corner here.

At this point it’s all about going into next year with solid film against the best teams in the nation. He’s gotta stop over complicating the offense but there are glimmers of improvement, despite the 100 steps back

@@rileysullivan841 I thought some of the motions in the first half were too involved. But, UT has a very good defense (overall top 5) and top 2 in red zone defense, so I think they had to try something to keep the line from just bull rushing gaps. Kind of worked I guess? I think with Lagway he has more mobility and can move the pocket around. But, it’s going to blow up sometimes, we all know it. As frustrating as is Napier’s approach, it literally is a complete bottom up rebuild and as his players buy into the system it is becoming more reliable and consistent. He absolutely HAS to get busy in the portal to upgrade the O line. It’s barely serviceable now, and it is his Achilles heal. I’m less worried about high school recruiting … the truth is top classes are not committing for four years and with the portal and NIL the game has completely changed. Maybe he can work with it maybe not. But I think in year one of real NIL and portal with the hardest schedule I’ve ever seen this just isn’t the year to made drastic changes as much as we are all frustrated with Napier.

I see the progress too myself. Lagway is his guy. This is what he needs to run his system. He gets early lumps and reps vs the best.

Napier is just coming into his own with his recruited players. With this schedule, he should remain through next year. The team IS improving. But Kentucky is going to be a tough nut to crack. Stoops is a very good coach and Florida has a freshman at QB. Gator fans have always had unrealistic expectations. This year is no exception. GO GATORS!

Will Napier allow Lagway to roll out? THats the question. even the commentators were calling for this during the TN game. it never happened. I see Napier staying vanilla and Kentuckys defense keeping UF in check. Billy boy goes 0-3 against Kentucky while the UAA sits back and counts their TV deal money with zero Fks given!
@shawnsimmons47183 күн бұрын
Here's the problem. Napier didn't even let AR roll out. AR is a much more dynamic runner than Lagway, obviously. Napier calls the same shit no matter who is at QB it seems.

Hearing UF people say that Kentucky is "physical", "hard-nosed", "tough", etc., and that the Gators are not their equal there, is amazing. Now there is no doubt: Kentucky football is back, and the best it has ever been. I hope that Fun N Gun vs. Air Raid is gone forever. Yet, supposedly the Gators want Lane Kiffin. Notice that The Streak was ended in a low-scoring game and every UK win in the series since then has been a low-scoring game. I expect the same this Saturday.

Napier did something good by playing Lagway with Mertz as the starter? YIKES. Damning with faint praise. Neyland at night against #8 in the nation, yet Florida could have won. Insane.

Napier seems to be a more aggressive with play calls with DJ Lagway. In Napier's defense his calls seem to match the ability of the QB strengths.

And it’s his inability to adjust mid game that kills me the most… deciding to screen with DJ and run a QB sneak with Mertz was insane

@@rileysullivan841 to me his situational play calling sucks. However, I believe he will call a game closer to what Gators fans like with DJ, but that does not help situational calls.

It also doesn’t help when our entire home crowd is booing and chanting fire the coach when everyone of those players lineup on that field is playing for that man and then we expect them to play well. Our fans have gotten a little out of control and entitled just a thought.

From what was broadcast on TV, there were three times when Tennessee receivers were wide open, and Nico could not hit them. I don’t think that means our secondary is terrible or coverage is terrible. It happens to all teams including Ohio State, Georgia, and Michigan

To reduce the buyout, FL will probably part with Napier at season's end, barring an incredibly good finish.

I believe the buyout is the same between now and the end of the season: $26M+. There's just not a capable coordinator to take over on an interim basis. Napier IS the OC.
