Though I have had limited experience with the Garmin Instinct, check out my pros and cons below.
Pros of the Garmin Instinct:
• Awesome design that looks rugged and tough.
• Very easy to read screen that is a little smaller than other Garmin watches but displays a lot of information. I love additional display in the top right, very easy to read.
• The buttons are easy to use when navigating the menus
• Many features that are geared towards outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, running, even open water swimming.
• Easy to sync with your phone via the Garmin Connect app
• Allows for text message responses (Android only)
• Music controls
• Built in compass and barometric altimeter
• Waterproof up to 100 meters
Cons of the Garmin Instinct:
• No Garmin Connect IQ for downloading Watches, Widgets and Applications
• Black and white display
• No Garmin Pay functionality

As someone who has used this watch for a year, it is fantastic!!! Especially if you are all in on google services. The calendar and gmail (actually, any email) notifications are great. Even shows Microsoft Teams and Slack notifications. Yes, the graphics are clunky for these notifications, but you get well near a week's worth of battery life in return. And, the step tracking feature has been fantastic as well, proving to be quite accurate. The only issue is that I will occasionally bend my wrist back far enough to accidentally hit the GPS button, but it is easy to back out of. And, it hasn't shown a lick of wear since new. If you are a G-shock fan, but want a proper smartwatch (especially for android users) this is the one to get

This watch is fire. I just bought it. I thought it was a bit on the narrow/small side since a came from the Fenix models (2, 3 and 5) But I guess this size is more practical. Hope they make a Instinct plus someday, more rugged and bigger

Wow that is strange. I recommend contacting Garmin support. I have called them several times and they are always very helpful. They usually provide technical help or even just replace your watch.

So I know you can only send custom texts but when you get texts can you see the entire text or just a few lines? Additionally can you views the contacts/ and or notes from your phone?

For me it isn't worth it. The two main differences are a stealth mode and night vision mode. Stealth mode basically turns off all of the radios in the watch. I think this is useful for people on military bases or certain restricted areas. Night vision just changes the back light. Per the Garmin website those are the only differences. Looks neat. I will say, between these and Suunto, it seems like there are now an overwhelming amount of mid-level 'activity tracker'/GPS/Fitness watches. They're all good, but man, there's a lot now. The rugged aspects of this one are unique though.

Hello Brian, I hear you there. I have truly been stocked with the battery life on the Garmin Instinct. After a week you definitely have at least half of the batter remaining. It's hard to tell for sure because there doesn't seem to be a way to see the exact battery percentage. Let me know if you have any other questions. You're welcome! The map would still work but it's important to know that the map is very primative. Really the only feature that would be limited by no data is the weather but you can still setup storm alerts using the barometer. Plus the Garmin Instinct has a thermometer so you can even see the current temperature. Some times I forget how awesome this watch is. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I just got my vivo 3 music 3 weeks ago.... Which i feel a bit stupid now that this beautiful gshock is out. Personally. I felt that vivo 3 music look ugly... I just got it caz it seems the right watch to get at that moment. This gshock like look so much better.. However... This one have no touch screen and no color.. But like u said.. Do u really like this one over the v3music?
