I gotta say it now: The dream realm had some of the best music and level design
@cdesigner9178 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. In other Realms, you can kinda see how you get from the first level to the next, but since you don't have to beat a full Realm all at once, it's harder to see it as easily, but the Dream Realm isn't nearly as gradual. Sometimes it's not as obvious, such as the Carnival of the Lost ending nearby its haunted house attraction, with the next level being Nightmare Grounds, which is exploring the grounds of a haunted house. Other times it's right in your face, such as Your Worst Nightmare ending with a platform that moves you right into the black & white tile motif of the Maze of Illusions. Regardless, the Dream Realm is probably the one that the developers spent the most time on in all honesty.

In other realms, you can see the golems hiding from a mile away. Dream World? Nope, literal shadows.
@g.davidturnblom57512 жыл бұрын
I won't disagree at all, though both Nightmare and Maze of Illusion are more brightly lit so they aren't quite as hard to see, though they still do blend well with the background. Carnival of the Lost, Haunted Grounds, and Haunted House, however, are very dark colored, so you have to remember where they are if you don't want to get caught off guard. Needless to say, this is my favorite level in the game. Every element is perfect in my opinion.

I get an image of the kids laughing representing them having fun as they walk to the unknown and then the scream later in the song represents unforeseen consequences when venturing into the unknown.

When I read Fallen heroes and saw Warrior being slized in half by his shoulder , Valkyrie impaled by her own sword from the lower back, wizard falling down do his spiky fate, and a spear killing Archer from behind, I felt sadness. Like never hearing from them ever again..

I tend to see the Haunted Grounds as a sort of cemetery for the victims that fell to The Shadow Wraith and his minions. Perhaps the other fallen Gauntlet warriors dwell with those within that area of the realm. (Just look for the huge sculptures that adorn the isles.) Their laughter may sound joyous, but those could be perceived as souls that didn't realize that they died.

So the Legends heroes died? Huh, I guess that's a food for thought.
@henrytims47453 жыл бұрын
i always pictured this place as being a memorial to the heroes that put skorne down before. And when the demon came back, he corrupted the statues to represent how they all died.
@creativedoof3 жыл бұрын
@@henrytims4745 Y'know what? I like your theory. 👍 Because Skorne is that cruel and warped. So, he would indeed change the memorials in ways that would shame the Fallen Heroes.
@ajboomer13476 ай бұрын
Well, since it IS the Dream World, chances are they are just false visions created by the Shadow Wraith (or Skorne) to play mind games with his victims.

@@flatcapman First off, it's an alternate dimension(?) where the original Gauntlet heroes and the people within The Jester's Realm are presumed to be deceased. Carnivals and Haunted Houses are places filled with scares, thrills, but overall good fun. The souls of people haunting those areas don't easily translate into a good time but those sounds can trigger other emotions. The child sounds and songs add a somber feel to an otherwise eerie-sounding music track within the game. That isn't a bad thing. In fact, it feels right within a sad part of The Jester's Realm.

90% of the laughing are the laughing sounds from Roller coaster Tycoon
@henrytims47453 жыл бұрын
I always heard this song as the heroes own emotions swirling and changing. I hear the laughter as the hope of a peaceful and joyful time. The scream and discord as a fear of destruction and death. The swelling music that follows being uncertainty. Is this the future that’s in store for them if they lose? Have they already lost? Can such a place be restored or has the corruption been too deeply rooted?

It's a stock sound of a child laughing that's been used in many horror settings. It's most likely royalty-free, which is why people can use it without worrying about having to pay for anything.

@@jonathangerbino2621 Possibly this: "The Douen is a mythological entity from Trinidad and Tobago folklore. It is believed that they are the lost souls of children who have not yet been baptized or christened. Their most recognized characteristic is their feet are said to be backwards, with the heel facing the front and the knees are backwards, too. If they hear a child's name, then they will call to the child in a parent's voice and try to lure the child into the forest. They wear a big, floppy straw hat to hide the fact that they have no face except for a small mouth to speak with. Largely mischievous, they play pranks on people, raid gardens, and seem to enjoy leading children astray until they are thoroughly lost in the woods. "
