For you clarification: (1)A lot of makeup products have animal fats or animal products used which may also be pig or cow fat. Muslims don't consume pig meat/fat. Thus, halal certification is necessary in halal make up products. (2)A lot of products which may seem vegetarian may have some animal products if vegetarian sign is not on it. Gaurav, the Halal definition is not defined properly, you touched base on it, but the depth with clarity would have been better. For the Muslims halal is very important to understand what the content of the product they use are, if it is using any By-Product of non-halal like pork fats, oils, gelatin, etc… can not be consumed by Muslims. But I do agree this certification cannot be used for exploiting the prices in the community.

Well as a hindu, I think halal products should be sold, but only if the authentication Institute is of Indian government. And there should be a checklist where halal certification is required. I have seen an umbrella ( halal certified) being sold in a shop. I don't think that's required.
