Such an Irony, Buddha spent his lifetime to spread about reasoning and logical explanation about life, impermanence and the middle Path, and discard any Supreme God Element and we are here like dumb, make him The God instead. So much so that, perhaps his idol was the first god's idol discovered in India, and added him to the pantheon of Brahamanical Gods(avatara of Vishnu). Tipitika is the library of books with so many volumns, the other text you mentioned here, I read it somewhere that Mahavamsa is later compiled text like that of Deepvamsa in Sri Lanka. Plus,Jataka is small part of Tipitika that may be added later. I m not saying Buddha did not believe in the cycle of life death and rebirth. All I m saying is that he was silent when asked about the existence of God. But he believes in rebirth if you have desires left in you during the time of death then you will rebirth again in this Samsara to experience those desires

The most important thing you didn't mention is Ananda also took promise from Lord Buddha that He will never give any teaching without his presence. That's why once when Buddha was requested to teach āryasitātapatrāparājitāsādhan in certain heaven (not sure which one), he taught it from the crown of His head because Ananda was not present at that time. Because of that, the sutra is called the sutra that Buddha taught from the crown of His head. Edit : OK, this story I heard from my late father, so if there's some mistake, I apologize to Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. My late father used to read the sutra regularly, so he told me the story. I believe it's true because of the name. The name's translation to English is like this : The sutra of Godess with white parasol taught from the crown of Tathagata. People can google SITATAPATRA.
