When I did this in China, the guy actually removed every single inch of left of glue before applying new one. He even put putty around the camera so that there's no gap and kept adding and removing until there were no holes left. Not even a tiny one. And then he carefully applied the glue like literally everywhere. And I was so happy with his attention to detail however when I saw the back, I could see the glue and then he said, wait for it to dry for 2 hours. I waited for 2 hours in a coffee bar near the place, and the glue was still visible. So I went back and he told me that the glue dries enough to remove the rubber bands in 2 hours but to dry completely it would take 2 days and the smell would take a week to disappear. To be honest I was worried. But in the end he was right. The glue dried completely and now they're no signs of it. It looks pristine. Amazing

You should build a containment box when breaking the glass off, kinda like what they have for sand blasting machines, you put the work piece inside a box and stick your hands through some holes to clean the piece. It would keep the glass contained and easier to clean up.
