Hey, the term Rag n bone man is what we as British people way back in the 1970's used as a term referring to an elderly gentleman, who was thought of as homeless, pushing a homemade wooden cart with 2 wheels, down the cobbled streets of the UK, shouting rag n bone man. Our parents would go out with old unwanted clothes and give them to him. We all knew the rag n bone man back then. And yes this guy is a brilliant artist from the UK

There were Rag n bone men about in the Uk in the 1800s but declined in the 1980s to mechanised scrap merchants. I remember them when I was a kid in the 50s. They collected anything that could sell, scrap, old clothes and old bones that could be sold for knife handles etc.

A normal, sane individual can't choose to believe that he can jump off a 100 foot cliff and fly away by flapping his bare arms. You can't choose to believe that. You can claim to believe it. You can pretend that you believe it. You can deny that you disbelieve it. You cannot genuinely believe it! Only make-believe is a choice. We involuntarily come to the realization/perception that a proposition is likely true based on the information we have and our reasoning on it. If our information is erroneous and/or our reasoning is flawed, we come to false beliefs. You don't arrive at belief in a god with sound reasoning and accurate reliable information. This song is striking a chord with me today. I was just talking with somebody about how a certain group we know do not get along very well. In many ways the US is coming together, and is other ways it's completely falling apart. People are are self-identifying to different race/color/creed/politics/etc, and failing to see "we're all only human." We point fingers at "the others" (whomever the others are). It's "US" ... it's ALL "US". The humans! ( Great song! POWERFUL voice. It's amazing what emotions such a great delivery of such a great song can bring up!

My dear, oppressed people are FORCED to self- identify because they’re being reminded of how different they are and how they don’t belong. My Dad was truly proud to be German until Hitler told him he wasn’t and could never be. Black people who just want to get on with their lives as Americans have been getting that for centuries- personally and systemically.

@@TheDivayenta So true. Some people have labels put on them, and have to resist and fight to prove they are more than a label. But then other people are quick to grab labels and use them as weapons, shields, or a uniform. The word rag'n'Bone Man describes a man that would go around the neighbourhood with a horse and cart in the UK shouting "rag'n'bones, rag'n'bones" and if anybody had any unwanted items wanted to get rid of they would give it to the rag'n'bone man, that is where he got his name from. This is a British artist he has a very powerful voice.

A rag-and-bone man or ragpicker (UK English) or ragman, old-clothesman, junkman, or junk dealer (US English), also called a bone-grubber, bone-picker, rag-gatherer, bag board, or totter, collects unwanted household items and sells them to merchants. Traditionally this was a task performed on foot, with the scavenged materials (which included rags, bones and various metals) kept in a small bag slung over the shoulder.
