When he walked out in just his underwear I would have looked him in the eye, smiled my best naughty smile and said “ You have a beautiful body.” He would definitely have said thank you, but the way he said it would be the tell. So much is said through eye contact and body language between gay men. Next time (and I can tell from your story there will be a next time) just hold his eye contact for as long as possible and be confident and open minded. That doesn’t mean be aggressive- you’re right, he’s a guest. But I promise you’ll see the results! 😊

We met in the club, although he did go to his mum to get the keys to the house when we went home :D First half of my youth was spent like you, scared or unsure of every interaction. At some point i gave up being scared. I managed to turn plenty of innocent moments, not even as obvious as underwear guy, into dates and 'evenings' just by going for it and being ready for rejection, being ready for my "ah cool, i'm sorry i was just hopeful" - and i either got success or a decent friend, or a cool calm exit. Months later i bumped into this guy and his girlfriend and i was a 'famous' story to his friends about the confident gay guy who asked him out, and was polite enough to take no for an answer and not talk about "conversion"

I have a friend who's normally very (!) level headed - to the point of being almost dull - and maybe even a little bit 'on the spectrum' (he isn't great at routine interactions) . I remember he once met a 'very nice' homeless guy while out shooting photos on a work trip somewhere in I think Tennessee. There was a story involved, either hard luck, ex-military or backpacking across country - who knows. And they ended up talking. Friend bought him dinner, took him back to the hotel suite. I would never. They did sleep together but just fooled around and I think in the morning my friend dropped him at the bus station or something. This was SO out of character, but I will say this friend has a thing for saving people with a good story so probably there some of that in there. I still think he was lucky. Then again, I look back at some of the stuff I did when I was younger......
