Two gay bars worth mentioning in Soho's Old Compton Street are Compton's (which I go to) and the Admiral Duncan (which has drag shows). Both bars attract mostly middle aged gay men (like me!).

Seven out of 10. Thats being generous. Loads of London gay venues have closed here in last ten years and the ones still going full of youngsters having a short lived gay phase. ?

hi, I got out in Soho a lot and I've always found it very welcoming. Lots of trans people around. Some bars have nights especially aimed at trans people, Dalston Superstore definitely does. In terms of London generally, I'd say it's a fairly safe place to be trans despite the media and our current governments best efforts. Come party with us!
