@@thechatterguys Yes! Treasure each other every minute. My Hansel (Hans Peter) never even looked at me in a cross way. We met when we were around 40, so that did make a difference, I'm sure. He would say in his beautiful German/Viennese/Country accent, "Baby! You are my perfect treasure. I loff you to de skies!" And, no, it does not get easier. Thank you so very much for understanding. Gay at the Astoria was the best night out ever , used to travel from Coventry to London every Saturday night , over 3 thousand people all having a good time , saw so so many famous acts on there , shocking they knocked it down for cross rail , gay moved to heaven night club but nothing like the Astoria; the duke was a good place but but we got asked to be moved as a certain mr Norton was on he’s way in and we were sat in he’s preferred seats , so wasn’t happy about that

Colin is actually right. The original G.A.Y. was at The Astoria (Tottenham Court Road). This is where all the celebs like Kylie played. It was an enormous venue with several floors. Sadly The Astoria was demolished a few years ago to make way for Crossrail. The bar you attended here is completely different. A poor relation if you like. I think Heaven took over some of the G.A.Y. nights like "Camp Attack" but it's very different to the original G.A.Y.

G-A-Y Bar coexisted with G-A-Y (the club night) when it was at the Astoria, it's not a poor relation at all. Effectively it opened as somewhere to go before the club night, or when you wanted the G-A-Y experience on another day of the week. It also spawned a late night bar nearby called G-A-Y Late (now closed). G-A-Y as a club night was homeless for a while after the Astoria closed, but eventually they bought Heaven which is now its home.

Soho is not really that gay anymore. Most of the bars are full of straight people and there's not nearly as many bars/clubs as there used to be. There's been changes in the last decade or so. A combination of dating apps, and people not drinking as much i guess. Its definitely lost its edge, but so has canal st Manchester. Changing times.

Indeed! The LGBT+ scene has changed nearly everywhere although two of our favourite places, Blackpool and Benidorm still have a great vibe 🌈❤️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

The Yard has always been loud , busy and yuppie . Lucky to gets seats even upstairs . Very overpriced. Used to meet up there years ago before going elsewhere. So glad I moved away from London . Prices are ridiculous
