I also suffered a heart attack in my 40's while watching my small daughter in her hospital crib. I had fallen asleep and was awakened when i heard her trying to crawl over the top railing while reaching for me. I jumped up so suddenly I immediately saw stars and began to fall to my knees. I hobbled to the nurses station and begged them to catch my daughter as I last remember myself going completely limp. I was not aware that my heart stopped, all I knew was that I had to know that my daughter was safe and I could see the nurses enter her room and I followed but was disoriented when they ignored me. When I knew she was safe, the light began to appear and then I heard a faint far away buzzing sound. It was the doctors getting ready to hit my stopped heart with the paddles. The light faded to darkness again and I heard a woman's voice say; I feel a faint pulse stop!. I came aware that i was laying on the floor and the first thing I weakly said was to thank the nurse for saving my daughter from a long fall to the floor. I tried to help but you ignored me. She said I had not gone anywhere but had been in front of the nurses station ever since I collapsed and my daughter was safe and fine. It took me a while to process what really happened to me. Afterwards I was transferred to the emergency room and they did tests and an MRI of my neck. They said I fell to the floor completely limp and hit my head. I had been feeling severe neck pain and headaches before I collapsed. The Doctors found bone spurs pressing up against my spinal cord at C456 which required immediate spinal surgery,. If the severity of my neck condition had not revealed itself when it did I would have been paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of my life. I am a man of faith and I do believe that Jesus intervened. Not only keeping my daughter safe and me alive but he also showed me his grace and mercy. I am 72 and my daughter is now 38 and my neck is fused from c456.

Big fan of near death experiences, this one doesn't ring true. "Following the Sacraments" is a Catholic thing, and this whole story has a Catholic feel to it. Nothing wrong with that, but sacraments don't bring Salvation, and in reading all those near death experiences I don't think I've ever heard Christ tell anyone to do that.

Catholics don’t follow sacraments. They receive the sacraments. Luke 9.. just saying. Why was Christ baptized? Why did Christ institute the Eucharist? Why was the authority to forgive sins granted and encourage of repentance? There is no scripture that verbatim says Jesus I accept you into my heart.. but that line is what a number of people go by. Judaism is full of do this, don’t do that and initiation and ritual from day 8 for boys and less than that for girls. It would be odd to not have these things. Which by the way is still observed somewhat differently by the orthodox churches. How can we be expected to follow the right path when there are so many to choose from. Is it really a person’s fault for being deceived?

reread how moses saw the similtude of the Lord when he prayed . the Lord reveals himself in a dream or vision. he will speak to those who will spend time waiting on him to speak . set a time each day and wait on him to speak, 15-20 minutes every day. do that for a week 7 days . at the biginning ask him to speak to you and then wait on him quietly for the set times, for a week . if you want to hear him do this and see for yourself or hear for yourself. if you have already called on him to be saved and he didn't speak to you,do this.

Of course His love is unconditional, but if you think it's a permanent get out of jail free card then you aren't really accepting Him and don't understand the gift of His Grace. Repentance isn't just saying you're sorry but also striving to do better. This is why you can't just do a one time sinners prayer without a true change of heart and then go commit atrocities and expect to be ok. That's the kind of hypocrisy that Jesus taught against. That's not to say you won't fall after you have repented, but keep repenting and seeking change. If you believe in the sacrament of reconciliation, do that. If you feel you should go directly to Jesus with your sins in prayer, do that, but to just invite Jesus into your life with no intention of trying to follow his teachings is insulting to Him and His sacrifice.
