Ironically, while the anti-monopoly (the name of an anti capitalist satirical game) series of lawsuits had yet to be resolved, the final ruling was that while the mechanics of the landlord's game were public domain, the name monopoly was still a protected trademark of Hasbro/The Parker Brothers. So the name really was the problem. That's also how you can tell a licensed monopoly spin off from an unlicenced one. Licensed ones will be called "x monopoly" while unlicenced ones will usually be called something like "xoploy"

Otherwise Nintendo would have patented the idea of a platformer or someone would have patented the idea of a first person shooter. I have traveled a grate deal in the US and there are alot of odd town names like Nowhere OK or Beaver UT (I love Beaver). So, I had to check if Lynchmob VA was real. And answer is... Considering how different the mechanics were they really shot themselves in the foot by calling the game Gay Monopoly. Any other name and they’d have no trouble letting the game stand as its own product.

when I saw this title I thought it was going to be extremely offensive I'm not going to lie, but I'm glad that its not quite on the same level as the death row and welfare games.
