And at the age of 18 he is very young, and what he wants now might completely change as he gets older. The most important thing is that he is given the space to do what he feels is right for him. I would also encourage him to have safe sex always. Remember also that unlike in a heterosexual relationship, there is no need to share a bond with your partner in order to support the raising of a child. Straight men can be just as reluctant to use condoms. The risk is just not as high. Women have the added concern of pregnancy, hence adding a woman to the sexual equation probably increases the use of condoms amongst straight couples. Women also tend to be more health conscious. Of course I am totally generalising here.

@Ossarian A lot of women just think that thtey have to put up with a partner that doesn't want to use a condom. I hope we can expres ourselves through other means, not just through cramming ourselves with drugs. I was reading about the AIDS crisis of NY’s gay scene in the 80s, and when they realized it was spread through sexual fluids and that condoms and other measures could prevent its spread, those spreading the news emphasized that you have to care about your partner. It has to be a community effort. Everyone looking out for one another. It sounds like in London’s gay scene, and perhaps more globally, thinking is extremely individualistic-a huge pitfall of the West. People who don’t care about themselves in this sort of culture are evidently a huge risk. Pretty much 100% of gay ppl struggle with self-hatred, at least at some point. For those who hate themselves, trying to get them to use protection for their own good won’t work, because the real problem is the self-hatred, not the carelessness itself (which is the by-product). I wouldn’t advocate shaming them and saying “don’t you care about other ppl????” Because that might just make them hate themselves more and care less, honestly. Just promote love for your brothers and lovers.

In the UK, it’s not the lack of acceptance, but the fact that these men know NHS will support them, which is associated with self distractive behavior. They ,however, shouldn’t play it risky. Lots of HIV positive people seem to behave irresponsible and those clean, think the presence of drug, means they can not care! It’s a depressing fact that makes you wonder why people are self destructive?! At least the majority of young population! Whenever HIV is the topic in journal club, I know we will have a sad day! Unlike other diseases, HIV is more of a disease of choice; similar to STD or Hepatitis. It’s a crisis! Group unprotected sex is a risky behavior but something people will do ofter in the gay community. It’s an endemic and the way people behave about it makes me question if there is an endemic psychological problem or if the gay community isn’t suitable for nurturing its members. It seems a toxic sitting of its own, if that happens to be the sitting. The huge question is why gays have this problem? What started it? How can it be contained?! What’s the percentage of gays that participate in this?

I think that as a society we don't teach other to properly deal with things like rejection or self hate. The guy's reaction to the breakup was going to a chemsex party. In my opinion it was an act of self destruction due to all the negative emotions that arose from the breakup. I think the problem really goes beyond sex+drugs. We are told since a very young age that looks and relationships and money are the goals in life. But they don't teach that not looking like a model, being alone, and struggling with money is also an inevitable part of life and that we must deal with the emotions that arise from these in a healthy way.

A note on PrEP. Recently there have been cases (I believe only 2) where people using PrEP consistently still contracted HIV. Don't get me wrong, if you are at high risk of contracting HIV use PrEP, but not as your only precaution.

After a lifetime of judgment I thought that maybe modern tolerance to being gay was a sign that people in general were more tolerant and understanding. Reading these comments I realise I'm wrong, so many people with prejudged answers to the problem and a willingness to damn others.
@chesterdonnelly12125 жыл бұрын
There is tolerance of being gay. But this type of lifestyle should be condemned. Homosexuals should be encouraged to live by the same morals as ordinary decent people.

Some people are used to having sex just casually like greeting each other. That’s shallow, reckless and lack of self-esteem. They follow sex drive, but doesn’t lead to someone who shows genuine love. Everyone needs a good role model to feel connected, not to feel isolated. I hope there are more gay men who could do something for young men. Is there any good way to pull young people out of hook up app and do something else together?

Sex is temporary. Sometimes the act is longer than others. Why would anyone jeopardize their health for that? Without health you have nothing.
@slamee100 Жыл бұрын
The most important thing for all of us and our loved ones to do BEFORE we leave this temporary world is to be spiritually prepared for our ETERNAL life by admitting and repenting of our sins and believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Bible and being spiritually born again by honestly accepting Jesus Christ, God on earth, as our Savior by believing that He was born one of us His own creation to die and resurrect from the dead to pay for our sins for us so that our sins will not condemn us at the final judgment, to reconcile us sinners with God to give us eternal life with Him. THE GOSPEL (THE GOOD NEWS) OF JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR Jesus Christ came down here from heaven, God on earth, to be born one of His own creation and He dwelt among us for over three decades and He taught us about God and His eternal heavenly kingdom and how to live righteously and He lived a perfect sinless life. Then He gave His sinless life to all people from all nations to pay for our sins for us, by dying on the cross and resurrecting from the dead three days later, to pay for our sins for us to reconcile us sinners with God to give us eternal life with Him, and after He resurrected from the dead, He lived on earth for forty more days, speaking to many people, then He ascended back up into heaven and He is coming back again at the end of this world to set up His eternal heavenly kingdom and all people will see Him and have our sins judged by Him. Repent of sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior TODAY, so that your sins will NOT condemn you at the final judgment.

having sex is one of your life's aspects and sometimes it affects you the biggest part of your life no matter what sexual orientation you fall into. Enjoy it the best, and the safest way you can, but don't put yourself and others in danger. it often makes you lose control on yourself. remember, when there is a pleasure there are always side effects that follows if you're too much craving it. besides that, I don't sometimes appreciate the way BBC brings information on things with high risks. while it's good to let people know what really is going on with every detail, but it could work as a source of information to those who actually want to try it, especially teenagers.

Unsafe sex is risky, m’kay? Some people are living on the edge and just pushing their luck. Remember... when you have sex with someone, you are having sex with every person THEY had risky sex with too. Love yourself by looking after yourself! I grew up in the 80s and it was incredibly SOBERING to come of age while HIV/AIDS snowballed into a the scariest bogeyman we could ever conjure up!

Please challenge your self to learning about the creator of the universe. This helped me to & not get so wild when I was the horneyest time of my life. First I got into a 12 step principles & spending many hours swimming,sauna,lifting,walking. Allowing me focus on a relation. Lucky for me I was always a little chubbier & that saved my life. I suspect all this snutty ones got what they bargained for. So please protect your self cause you are worth caring for.

@chesterdonnelly12125 жыл бұрын
No. Homosexuals should live by the same morals as straight people, in a loving relationship built on trust and respect, or alone and celibate if that is what they prefer. Don't take drugs to increase your libido. Dedicate your life to things that are not base pleasures. Things like music or sport or helping others.

Of course we understand true intimacy. I was living this life for a year when my life fell apart and 4 years later and sober i met my ex who i still love with all of my heart and miss everyday and i dont even think about drugs or hookups when with him. I wanted to get married have a family and a house together all the normal stuff and that was what made me fully truly content in life. Now hes gone and i feel constantly broken and alone. Trust me we understand love and actual intimacy...
