Gayatri Mahamantra is an important mantra of the Vedas whose importance is almost equal to Om. It is composed of Yajurveda's mantra 'Om Bhurbhuvah Swah' and Rigveda's verse 3.62.10. Savitri Dev is worshiped in this mantra, hence it is also called Savitri. It is believed that reciting this mantra and understanding it leads to the attainment of God. It is also worshiped in the female form of Shri Gayatri Devi.
'Gayatri' is also a verse which is made up of the sum of 24 matras 8+8+8. Gayatri is one of the seven famous verses of Rigveda. The names of these seven verses are-Gayatri, Ushnik, Anushtup, Brihati, Virat, Trishtup and Jagati. There are three steps of eight syllables each in the Gayatri verse. Gayatri verses have the maximum number of verses except Trishtup in the mantras of Rigveda. There are three verses of Gayatri (Tripada Vai Gayatri). Therefore, when the symbol of creation was conceived in the form of verse or speech, then this world was considered to be the form of Tripada Gayatri. When the symbolic interpretation of life in the form of Gayatri started, then a special mantra was composed according to the growing importance of Gayatri verses, which is as follows:
Tat saviturvarenya. Bhargodevasya Dhimahi. धियो यो न: Prachodayat.' (Rigveda 3,62,10)
