Hi Chris, I'd be very interested to see you lay the bike down (in a slow controlled way) to demonstrate how effective they are, where the contact with ground points might be and how easy it is to lift the bike back up... I'm looking at fitting the low bars..
@RidinDad Жыл бұрын
So I did it off camera and the bike does not touch the ground. I can’t make a whole video dedicated to that but if you go on the Bung King website, you’ll be able to see pictures of all the bikes laying down with various different crash bars, so hopefully that will help you out. Also picking it up is easily done but it’s also subjective depending on who you are and if you know how to pick it up properly or not there are tons of videos on that all over KZbin though.

I have the original low one on my 2016 FXDLS, works great as a highway peg, but I had to add griptape as well, otherwise your feet just slide around

Yeah for sure. Pretty much an hour after I film this video I put the tape on it. If you’re curious what it look like you can check out my upgrades video and then overviews everything I have on the bike before I took my trip to the tail of the Dragon and I have it in that one already on

@PkwyDrive134 жыл бұрын
@@RidinDad I love it, I got it because I didn't think the tall one would work for me cause I'm 6'3, I feel like the higher one would just be a cramp. I do scrape it when I ride hard in the turns but it only scrapes the delrin end a tiny bit, no biggie! I just like how it keeps the bike more upright

Will be interested to hear how comfortable it is using it as a highway bar since we're about the same height.

Review video coming soon with it but it was comfortable for me. I’m not a huge fan of highway peg positioning to begin with but it was definitely doable. Slight bend in the knee and it was good to stretch out the legs for a little bit

@2kanchoo2 жыл бұрын
I wanted to get this so bad but their website says not for 20 and up low rider s without dropping the fork tubes 3/8 so it won't hit the fender under full suspension compression.
@RidinDad2 жыл бұрын
Yupp. With harsh bumps sometimes the fender “kisses” the bar. Super small and you’ll wind up with a very tiny dent and paint scratch. Maybe 1.5-2 cm long. For me it was ok. But I’ve raised my front suspension since then anyway. I have a video on it but it’s super easy. You just need some shims from hairy customs. $13 piece and boom. Forks are slid down and bike is raised up. No issues.
@2kanchoo2 жыл бұрын
@@RidinDad Well damn brother if it's that easy I might get the high one afterall. I just assumed it would be a pain in the buttocks messing with the forks. I'll be checking that vid out.

Hey man I hope you see this, I got this same crash bar the two up. And was wondering if you have had any issues with the crash bar hitting the fender when you hit a bump? Idk if I’m tripping but when I hit a mild bump sounds like that front fender is hitting the crash bar.
@RidinDad3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Of course I see it...I see everything! LOL. And no I haven’t. Is it on the same bike? I’ve had this part on for a while and no issue with the fender at all
@jerrycool30343 жыл бұрын
@@RidinDad yeah a 2020 low rider s. I’m a bigger dude but I didn’t think I’d have this issue. I may be trippin and I’m hearing something else. But it sounds like when I hit a good bump the crash bar is hitting the fender. May have to take a closer look
@RidinDad3 жыл бұрын
You know what man, I just got home and I double checked my bike just to make sure before I told you some thing that I wasn’t 100% sure about and I actually think there is a very very tiny faint mark on the fender and the bar where they would have come into contact at some point. But I never hear it so I’m assuming that only happened with a very aggressive bump. So it’s very possible that that is exactly what you were hearing which sucks. Like I said I never even thought that was happening until you mentioned it and I looked really close because it’s very hard for me to see it.
@RidinDad3 жыл бұрын
It’s not easy or quick LOL but the best fix for both of us is to get upgraded suspension in the front even possibly raised suspension by maybe about an inch and then that will make the bike obviously handle even better in addition to decreasing the chance of the two pieces hitting each other
@jerrycool30343 жыл бұрын
@@RidinDad that was my answer. To raise the front suspension about a inch and add the 13.5 rear shock. The chain conversion and rear suspension was my next purchase for it but may put the chain off for a bit. I just don’t want to damage my fender or if I bring it down from a wheelie and smack the piss out of it and possibly wreck.

@RidinDad4 жыл бұрын
Lol yeah they’re tight man. Get yourself a torch or something similar and hit the bolt for a few seconds at a time. That will help to loosen the Loctite that is on there from the factory. Even so you will have to put some leverage on it. Make sure you have a good quality set of bits lol. I had to use the long side of my wrench to break them loose. If you have some sort of breaker bar or similar it should help a lot

Did you have to adjust the forks for clearance?
@RidinDad2 жыл бұрын
I did not. Afterwards I adjusted them higher up with Harry San Diego fork shims that I used just purely for increased height and handling of the bike. If you do not adjust them up you do run the possibility of putting a very small dent in your front fender from this crash bar only when your suspension is fully compressed. It took a while for mine to even hit the fender and now since it has hit a few times it’s just a very small neck and dent

Lol. Sometimes it just happens like that man! Could be a number of factors. Could be how old your bike is, if a lot of rain and such got in there and part of it started to rust a bit at the end, or maybe they were just really extra tight from the factory or a little bit too much Loctite from H-D. Who knows. Bottom line is you did it lol

@RidinDad4 жыл бұрын
The bells are not my fault lol. My buddy bought me one when I first got the Harley and then months later my mom bought me one not knowing I had the first. I couldn’t let her feel bad so I use both lol. I haven’t tried it yet (physically laying the bike down) because of the position of my rear bags and having no rear protection, but bung king claims it protects just the same. I mainly went with it because I know from my buddy the low bar wouldn’t work for my height as a highway peg (too far away) and it drags with the pegs on turns and I didn’t like that part at all. I really like the high bar man.

Harley "culture" isnt a one size fits all... its a fat guy at a bar 3 pitchers deep on a poker run that said something once and spread it like scripture until a herd mentality kicked in and baaaaa went the sheep. Some have a bell, some have a rosary on the bars, some have a vegvisir sigil on the bike, others have a santa muerte... its all the same thing. Superstition for protection. The thing about that is the INTENTION means everything. Law of attraction and manifest destiny... thats what makes it truly work. 2 bells wont jinx someone unless they believe it will. 🤘
