Man I put one of these on my Dyna 4 years ago. It was one of the best investments I've ever made for my Dyna. I wrapped the end of the bar with skateboard tape so my feet won't slide off while using it as a footrest on the open highway. It also works great to put the bike on its side if you need to do any work on the underside of the bike.

Nice! I've got this style of crash bar too and don't like how slippery they feel when I use them as a foot rest. I'll probably wrap mine with skateboard tape as well, that's a great idea

Yeah I got a buddy who does the grip tape trick | Even a couple small strips makes a huge difference

It works great and is very durable. I got over 30,000 miles on the skateboard tape.@@tomoates8568

Good stuff! I've been running my Bungking crash bar for 5 years now and love it. Most of the Sport Glide crowd run HD engine guards (I did too on my FXDC and XL1200C), but after seeing the results of crashes involving both the engine guards and crash bars, I was sold on the Bungkings. They're incredibly well made and I really like their looks; they look great with the LA Fairing El Diablo fairing.

Yeah I've been unfortunate enough to actually test it in a wreck, and I probably wouldn't be here today if not for that part - Definitely worth it!

I got a similar crash bar for my FXLRST from Pazoma Racing. Got the front guard and the passenger peg/sliders for a bit cheaper than I would've got from bung king. Installed mine myself, but wish I'd just let a professional do it lol. I accidently stripped a few bolts that I had to extract so it took me a lot longer than expected. They work great too, unfortunately I already tested them out lol. no damage at all to me or the bike, just a simple replace of the slider puck. Highly recommend this style of crash bar

Definitely one of the first things I do to any new bike | Definitely been there with stripping bolts, that's my superpower

I have bmx style pegs on my dyna from moons mc . They have great stuff . O’tools stopped by there a few times riding up in New York State .

Thanks for the vid. Can ask how tall you are? I heard short guys like me 5’6” can’t reach the OEM Mustache guard so I’m looking for an alternative. This might be the winner.
@FXDLSBrooklyn2 ай бұрын
@@jbones2121 yeah this is a really good point - I can just barely reach it to stretch out, definitely not as close as on the Dyna

@@FXDLSBrooklyn thanks! I wish there were more options for the low rider. Why put cruise control on a bike with limited highway peg options! Lol. I like the look of the Bung King better than the mustache anyway

I think I've had mine for about 10ish years now...i might be off by a couple years or so due to alcohol consumption and they also have the crash bar for the rear and replace the passenger pegs....

A friend of mine runs it - I'm not a fan because I feel like the placement gets in the way a lot, and the front catches more than enough bike - However, he has gotten use out of his for sure

I'll admit I don't go near any mechanical stuff ion my bike. I'm not confident that I would have everything back to a safe zone. But this was fascinating and proves to me I want someone with a mechanical process doing even the simnplest install. Thanks for this video. Now, I have a question. What's the difference between red and blue loctitie? I've always had the idea you used it where there might be vibration loosening or where the bolt needed to be permanent.
@joshuaramos967611 ай бұрын
Both red and blue will hold the bolts from backing out from vibration you’ll want to use BLUE on just about everything in this install video as well as every bolt on a Harley. Red would be fine on the bigger bolts just put a line on a few threads and you’ll be fine, but keep in mind by adding to much red you might have to heat up the area whenever you need to remove the bolts again. Blue loctite would do absolutely fine in all these areas in the video. If you also have a torque wrench follow the recommended torque as well highly recommend getting a good one.

Definitely working on a loctite sponsorship after this one

Have you found any crash bars that would work on your Dyna with the FXR lowers? I’m looking for some.
@FXDLSBrooklyn11 ай бұрын
I had to actually cut into the lowers themselves to get it to work | Not sure if anyone makes a crash bar to work with lowers without cutting

Hey bro, I’m eying a 2012 dyna super glide custom at my local dealer. I’ve heard so much that a dyna is THE Harley; that is, it is the most quintessential Harley Davidson. I’ve also heard before that the old gen dynas are the best. What is better about the old ones? Would the 2012 new gen dyna still be a quintessential Harley ?

I always loved the looks of the Bung King crash bars and i should probably get a set for my EGS, especially since i have the frame mounted Ciro highway pegs now. I run Baja Designs S1 amber lights on my current crashbar and was going to fabricate some better mounts for it, but i should probably pick up the Bung King or a derivative of that style and fabricate mounts for my lights on it. I've been using Bung King risers for years and I feel like I've told everyone who switches risers to use their products. I wonder if they make saddlebag crashbarz.
@FXDLSBrooklyn11 ай бұрын
I used to run shock sliders years ago, but after many tests, the front crash bar always provided more than enough clearance, so that's all I use these days | Bung King is definitely tried & true!
